The Apocalyptic Queen's Werewolf Journey (Thora and Darius) novel Chapter 67

**Chapter 67: Gun to Her Head**

As the shadows danced in the dimly lit basement, Luke found himself crouched in a corner, his heart racing as he carefully unfolded the top-secret file he had stumbled upon regarding Shirley. The flickering light from a single bulb overhead cast an eerie glow on the pages, revealing the stark details of her life.

Shirley Reed. Just sixteen years old. The daughter of the formidable Alpha of the Thunderbolt Pack and an influential Imperial Congressional Representative.

The file told a harrowing tale. At the tender age of six, she had been snatched away, her innocence stolen in an instant. By eight, she had faced another trauma, one that would haunt her forever. After enduring the unthinkable at the hands of her cousin, she had retaliated with a ferocity that belied her small stature, striking with a lamp and severing his major artery. This act of brutal self-defense marked the beginning of her transformation, shaping her into someone who struggled to connect with the world around her, her antisocial tendencies taking root in the soil of her pain.

By thirteen, the awakening of her wolf spirit brought with it chaos. The wildness of her newly unleashed power spiraled out of control, resulting in a series of destructive incidents that left her family and the Thunderbolt Pack no choice but to confine her. They suppressed her wolf spirit, fearing the consequences of her untamed abilities. Yet, despite these restrictions, Shirley’s innate talent and fierce determination shone through. She honed her skills and became a top-tier sniper, relishing the thrill of her public persona, a performance that granted her a fleeting sense of accomplishment.

Her path took a darker turn when she joined an assassin organization, where she was embroiled in missions that targeted high-ranking Imperial officials. The Astralis Empire had initially intended to recruit her into their military department, but her violent history raised red flags. Officials were acutely aware that no one could fully suppress the raging wolf spirit within her, nor could they control the aggression that simmered just beneath the surface.

As a minor, Shirley was detained for several months under Imperial supervision, receiving an education that was more about control than learning. Upon her release, a stern warning accompanied her newfound freedom: no firearms would be allowed in her possession.

Just then, Luke’s computer screen flickered to life, an antenna suddenly glowing with activity. His heart skipped a beat. This could only mean one thing—somewhere nearby, radio waves were being transmitted.

“Mr. Blackwood, are you sure this will work?” Hugo’s voice trembled with uncertainty, his brow furrowed in doubt.

Darius, however, remained silent, his gaze fixed intently on the looming structure of Astralis College ahead, the tension palpable in the air.

“Mr. Blackwood, we’ve received a transmission,” a technician in a crisp white uniform announced, his tone respectful yet urgent. “They say they’re trapped in a basement. Some individuals have fallen into the hands of the mercenaries and are being held captive.”

Hugo’s eyes sharpened, a flicker of realization dawning upon him. “Lance, the leader of Greywolf, is exceptionally cunning. He won’t risk everything just to complete this mission. Given their current predicament, escape is out of the question. They’re likely using the academy’s students as leverage against us.”

It was clear that Greywolf had underestimated their opponents. Their elaborate plan to stage a grand escape had been derailed, leaving them cornered and vulnerable.

“Find out who he is and who’s in command,” Darius ordered, his voice low and commanding.

“Yes, sir.”
