Chapter 81 If You Die, I’ll Be Single Forever
Darius’s POV:
212 Finisher
I noticed the electric grid covering the academy was starting to weaken. Quietly, I slipped away from Hugo’s group.
Behind the library, in the garden strip, there was an underground maintenance hatch half-hidden under the weeds. It was a blind spot set up by the military.
I crouched down, lifted the metal lid, and held up my hand. I drew energy from the soulstone and pressed it onto the dark-purple electric grid above the hatch.
The moment the energies collided, the web tore apart like it had been cut with invisible scissors, leaving a hole big enough for me to squeeze through.
As soon as I got past the grid, I headed straight for the library.
The last message from Luke said Thora was heading there to save the hostages.
Heh. She really believes she can do everything herself.
She hasn’t even awakened her wolf spirit yet-defusing bombs and rescuing hostages right under the Greywolf mercenaries’ noses.
Bodies were scattered along the path. Most of the mercenaries had been killed with a single blow.
Precise and fast. That had to be Thora.
I had just begun to let my guard down when suddenly a chorus of wolf howls erupted from the upper floors of the library, mixed with the sharp smell of blood-that was the werewolf signal before a kill.
A bad feeling hit me, then a strong iris scent reached my nose, sharp and hard to ignore.
“It’s my fated mate!”
Lorcan roared in my mind. The werewolf danger sense for mate rushed through me like electricity. “She’s in trouble. Give me control of your body, now!”
He didn’t have to say more. I gave him full control.
Golden wolf power erupted from me. My bones cracked and reshaped, and in an instant, I became a giant wolf with molten-gold eyes. My claws shattered the floor tiles as I sprinted toward the library.
Mercenaries who got in my way were swatted aside without hesitation-there was no time to waste.
Above, a helicopter moved closer to the rooftop. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lance’s Greywolf core members gathering near the helipad.
I didn’t care about their escape. Only one thought filled my mind-find Thora!
I reached the 50th floor when an explosion shook the building. Rotting, dark magic spread with the smoke. Through the swirling dust, a slim figure was thrown like a puppet by the blast.

“Thora!”
My eyes went wide, and I pushed myself to move faster.
The four daggers with black runes surrounding her were about to detonate again. I threw myself forward with all my strength, pulling her into my embrace and taking the full blast on my back.
Thora’s POV:
The bomb marked with dark magic exploded, and there was no place to escape.
Amie used the last bit of her wolf power to block the blast for me, then fell into a deep sleep.
Pain tore through my body as I changed back, and the shockwave threw me like a doll. My back hit broken stones, and I coughed up blood.
Thick smoke filled the air. My sight faded to gray and white. Through the haze, I saw the four dagger- bombs coming together again, pulled by that dark magic, their rotten smell crawling closer.
Another explosion was about to happen. It was impossible to stop.
Before Amie could wake, my body had already reached its limit. She was hurt and unconscious, and I could barely lift my arm, let alone fight.
Is this the end for me? Am I really going to die here?
I was just reborn. I haven’t even done anything in this life yet, and I’m already about to die?
No way… I can’t accept that.
That stubborn thought burned inside me-and then another loud crash shook the air.
A wave of scorching heat and shattered stone slammed toward me. Acting on pure instinct, I curled up, covering my head and chest. Suddenly, a huge shadow leapt over me, carrying a blast of burning wolf energy. A giant golden wolf lunged forward, wrapping me in its body and shielding me with its back.
The impact made my body shake, but his warm fur blocked most of the damage.
I’m safe.
That was my last thought before my strength ran out. The darkness swallowed me completely.
Almost immediately, my survival instinct snapped my eyes open.
I felt someone carefully lift me up. A clean cedar smell mixed with smoke and blood floated around me, strangely calming.
When I looked up, I saw a man’s strong, sharp jawline.
Then my gaze met a pair of familiar, bright, fox-like eyes, filled with a worry he hadn’t quite hidden.
“Darius?” I asked, frowning.
