The Battle Queen They Blindly Kicked Out (Joanna) novel Chapter 502

Chapter 502 The Undertakers

Finished

The Undertakers from the Decennial Universe had finally tracked down the site of the recent Godwar.

“The Nightmare and the Eagle race both said their Demon Gods died here… So why isn’t there anything

left?”

Forget Godfall Land.

No cosmic debris. Not even a trace of divine remains.

“These coordinates fall within human territory now. Humans won this battle. Maybe they hid everything.”

After all, this was exactly what Undertakers did. They outmaneuver other races, track down fallen gods, and seize the remnants before anyone else could.

And humans? In the eyes of the myriad races, humans were still weak. It had only been one Decennial Tournament since they’d thrown off the shackles of slavery.

Still, the Godwar had taken place in human territory.

The Undertakers decided to conduct a thorough search.

They moved quietly, believing themselves undetected. But no matter where they looked, they found no sign of any Godfall Land.

Yet 23 Demon Gods from various races had undeniably died here.

That number might not sound large at first.

But across the entire Decennial Universe, only a little over 1000 Demon Gods died each year, and that was under constant, brutal competition.

23 is nearly one-fiftieth of the annual toll. It was no small loss.

“The humans are acting so arrogant for somebody who just joined the Space Alliance. Do they really think they can monopolize the remains meant for Undertakers?”

Undertaker teams were always composed of Demon Gods. A minimum of three per team. This particular team consisted of a Fox Demon God, a Scorpion Demon God, and a Carrion Hydra Demon God.

Since they couldn’t find any remains…

They decided to force answers out of humanity.

They seized a group of humans and sent word: summon the human god.

After Joanna’s ascension, the System had placed the Decennial Universe under her guardianship. The dimension belonged to her now.

The other Mythic-level Professionals had all departed.

If Joanna spent enough to issue a formal commission, they would remain as garrison forces.

But she hadn’t issued that commission, so they’d withdrawn.

Still, in the event of real danger, they would come back.

The Decennial Universe did have its own native Mythic-level beings, but they stayed within their own territories, cowed by millennia of defeat. The only exception had been the eight Mythic-level humans who’d mobilized for the Decennial Tournament. The rest remained hidden from the world.

The humans captured by the Undertakers were personnel from the Nightstar Group stationed here.

Realizing they’d been captured, they made their choice.

“Demon Gods are here! Don’t let them kill us! Self-destruct and revive! Alert Astra Lux!”

A series of explosions followed.

The Fox Demon God stared in disbelief.

He had only wanted to capture a few humans to force Astra Lux into conversation. It hadn’t expected such… fierce loyalty, to rather blow themselves up than offer information.

Now it looked like a massacre, whether it was or not.

Joanna arrived swiftly.

“Did you kill my people?”

Her gaze was ice.

The Fox Demon God’s eyes flickered with uncertainty. He had participated in the Decennial Tournament. He had seen Joanna once, the human who’d propelled her race ten thousand places forward, landing them at 999th.

But now? Her presence radiated godhood.

In just a few years, she’d ascended.

And with only five years left until the next tournament…

Would she compete again?

If a god entered the field, who could possibly stand against her?

The Fox Demon God’s thoughts spiraled.

But the Bull Demon God beside it was less contemplative. He tilted his snout skyward and addressed Joanna directly. “We only captured them to deliver a message. We never intended to harm them. They killed themselves. That has nothing to do with us.

“And yes, they’re your race. But gods and mortals are different. They’re barely ingredients. Why are you so upset?”
