Chapter 422
3rd Person’s POV
Fireshed
The she-wolf looked barely older than twenty. Her stomach was still flat beneath her pale dress, but Cora could detect the faintest traces of new life growing inside her. Fear clung to her scent.
And the moment Cora caught it, she rose smoothly to her feet.
“Hey,” Cora called gently.
The she-wolf startled, immediately lowering her gaze.
Cora offered her a soft smile-the kind that always made others lower their guard. “You came for a pregnancy examination?” she asked warmly.
The young girl hesitated before nodding.
Up close, Cora noticed the shadows beneath her eyes, the nervous way her fingers trembled around the documents.
“Then why do you look so unhappy?” Cora asked softly, tilting her head with practiced concern. “My name is Coraline. I’m a Healing student here at Lunar Grace. A future healer.”
Her voice flowed like silk-gentle, trustworthy, soothing.
“I didn’t devote myself to this path just to judge others. So if something is weighing on your heart, you can tell me.” Her gaze softened with practiced sincerity. “Whatever secret you share with me will remain between us alone.”
The young she-wolf looked stunned.
A Lunar Grace student willing to listen to an ordinary wolf without contempt or impatience?
Emotion immediately welled in her eyes.
“I-I’m Loraire,” she whispered. “And… yes. I’m pregnant.” Her hand drifted unconsciously toward her stomach before her expression crumpled. “But I won’t be able to keep the baby for long.”
Cora’s brows drew together flawlessly, every trace of sympathy perfectly performed. “Why?”
“My family arranged a marriage for me,” Loraire admitted shakily. “To a wealthy trader from the Blackmaw Pack. The ceremony is next week. He can’t find out I’m carrying another male’s pup… especially not my fated mate’s.”
Cora lowered her gaze as though genuinely heartbroken for her.
“I’m so sorry,” she murmured. “That must feel unbearable.”
Loraire nodded weakly.
“And stress like this can affect both you and the pup,” Cora added carefully. “Honestly, when I saw you

earlier, I became worried immediately.” She offered another reassuring smile. “How about I examine you personally? Free of charge.”
Loraire’s eyes widened. “R-Really?”
“Of course.” Cora’s voice remained warm and gentle. “Go empty your bladder. I’ll prepare one of the wards and set up the ultrasound array for you.”
“Thank you, Lady Coraline…”
Cora smiled sweetly as Loraire hurried into the nearby bathroom.
The moment the door shut, however,
The warmth vanished from Cora’s expression completely.
Coldness settled into her eyes.
Five minutes later, she approached the bathroom door and knocked lightly.
“Loraire? Everything’s ready. My assistant is waiting for you in the ward.”
The door opened slightly.
“Lady Coraline…” Loraire looked embarrassed. “There’s no water.”
“Ah.” Cora blinked as though only just remembering. “At this hour, the pipes are usually shut down for maintenance. Don’t worry about it. I’ll notify the cleaners later.”
Still unsuspecting, Loraire nodded obediently before hurrying toward the ward.
