Jess

Hathaway had been coming to this clinic for over three months to fix her teeth, and for all duties and with Lila’s nonstop nagging

After the first few visits, Evelyn stopped tagging along, leaving Hathaway to have her ears tortured by Lilla alfon

Finally, the treatment was over. Hathaway pulled out her phone to pay and said, “Lila, I’ve set the money

now

With that, she didn’t waste a second and walked straight out of the clinic.

Lila let out a sigh, thinking. I probably won’t see Hathaway again.

Adorable and gentle clients who always tipped generously are so tare, Lila thought, feeling a bit down as she walked over to the window and looked outside.

But as Lila glanced out, she was caught off guard to see the young master Lucas hanging around

Hathaway seemed to be arguing with him. She shoved him aside, got into her car slammed the door, and sped off

Lucas was left standing there, looking utterly crestfallen.

Lila leaned against the third-floor window, completely absorbed in the scene, a playful and curious glint in her eyes.

But Lucas seemed to sense her gaze. He suddenly looked up, shooting her a sharp, piercing look up at her on the third flour

Then he looked away, got into his car, and his Ferrari roared off with a dramatic drift.

These young guys these days really aren’t as adorable as they used to be. Lila thought. No wonder he can’t get the girl he’s

after.

Lila quickly typed out a message and sent it: [Hathaway, you could totally make Lucas one of your devoted admirers. Oner he’s under your spell, you’ll actually stand a chance against Jessica.]

While waiting at a red light, Hathaway glanced at her phone and, for no apparent reason, deleted Lila’s message

She drove to the nursing home to have lunch with her mom.

She hadn’t been to the office much lately. Half of Alan’s crew had already made it to Bayridge, and she didn’t dare mees up with them publicly.

Their plan was to buy out the raw material suppliers that Kingsley Group had been working with for years,

Then, they’d sell a batch of industrial scrap to Kingsley Group at rock-bottom prices, disguising the junk as premimas materials. If Preston was greedy enough, he’d take the bait, and that would slowly bring the Kingsley Group downt

But Preston was still on high alert.

He was wary of any suppliers he didn’t know

It wasn’t something that could be done overnight.

Hathaway nodded. “I’ll try to do that next time.”

Just then, Hathaway’s phone buzzed. It was Avery calling.

She answered, and Avery’s voice was rushed and anxious. “Jessica was in a car accident”

Hathaway straightened up, frowning. “When did it happen?”

“This morning,” Avery said.

Jeremiah’s out searching for her,” he added.

Hathaway jumped to her feet, her mind spinning. ‘Isn’t it way too early for the second accident?”

“Celeste, Mary, lock the front door!” she shouted.

Hathaway grabbed her phone and started deleting all her contacts with Alan and his crew, then rushed upstairs to erase everything on her computer.

But before she could finish, the screech of brakes echoed outside the villa, followed by the sound of heavy, urgent footsteps charging straight into the living room.

The next second, Jeremiah stormed in, his whole vibe cold and threatening.

He was flanked by several elite bodyguards, and suddenly it felt like all the air had been sucked out of the rooms.

Jeremiah’s stare locked onto Hathaway, cold enough to freeze you. “Hathaway, you caused that car crash, didn’t you?”

Hathaway quickly reset her phone to factory settings and shot back. I didn’t do it! I spent the whole day getting my teeth checked, had lunch with my mom, and came straight home. I didn’t step out once!”

“Does someone really have to do the killing themselves?” Jeremiah sneered, snatching her phone and glancing at it Wiped it clean, huh? Hathaway, what are you hiding from me?”

Anxiety flashed in Hathaway’s eyes. She hadn’t caused Jessica’s accident, but she was still emailing Alan and bus crew

If Jeremiah managed to get into her computer and saw those emails, everything she’d worked for would be toad

“Why so nervous? Don’t tell me it really was you. Jeremiah sneered, heading straight upstairs, clearly intent on searching her room for any evidence.

“Stop right there!” Hathaway’s heart dropped. She rushed up and blocked him at the turn of the stairs

Jeremiah paused, his presence so intense it felt suffocating, “Move,” he said in a low, commanding voice

“Why should I?” Hathaway gripped the railing, refusing to let him pass, her hack ramrod straight. “This is my room, my stuff. You have no right to snoop around!”
