“NOAH! What the fuck is wrong with you?”

“You said a bad word, mommy.” Val says sweetly, but she’s cut off by Nova.

Nova falls on the couch before leaning against me, “ I’m never getting married.”

“You will, I promise.” I try to assure her

“No, I will not! At this point I won’t even get my first kiss! I’m going to die alone and a virgin because both my dad and brother are insane!”

Noah clears his throat awkwardly. “There is nothing wrong with staying a v-vir”

“You can’t even say the word 'virgin,'" Nova cuts him off. “How did you even end up with kids?”

"Okay, enough, all of you… Nova, everything will be okay and when the time comes, you will find your forever, as for you, Nolan, stop interfering in your sister’s affairs.”

Nolan sighs, “None of them deserve her… they are too chicken to be worthy of my twin.”

“You don’t get to decide that!” Nova screams.

“Yes, I do.”

“You are unbelievable! You know what? Maybe I should start threatening girls that talk to you!”

Nolan shrugs lazily. “Go ahead… but I can assure you, that will never work.”

Val finally closes her homework book and looks at Nova thoughtfully before saying, “Maybe Nolan is right.”

The room goes silent and Nova slowly turns toward her younger sister with pure betrayal written all over her face.

“Excuse me?”

Val shrugs innocently. “Dad and Nolan are boys, so they probably understand other boys better than you do.”

“I can’t believe you would side with them!” Nova looks at her sister with wide eyes. “I let you borrow my makeup and you betray me?”

Val looks completely unrepentant. “And I appreciate that, but you’re being a little bit too dramatic.”

“You tiny traitor.”

Liam starts fussing again, probably disturbed by the sheer amount of yelling happening around him. Noah tries soothing him while failing miserably to hide his amusement.

I look around at my children and I can’t help but smile despite the chaos. Nova is ranting about oppression and sexism while Nolan looks entirely too proud of himself.

Val is now playing with Liam, while Oliver is still on the floor drawing, and Noah is trying to calm Nova down, literally holding her back from choking Nolan because once again he just said something that pissed her off.

Our house is chaotic and out of control, but honestly? I wouldn’t change a damn thing because I’m happier than I ever thought possible.
