Breakfast feels even more comforting because everything Skylar does makes Sienna happy.
This little boy’s talent as a master chef judge really shines through, just as it did at the Villa. Whatever food and drink she serves him are bound to be delicious and will surely earn her warm praise.
Though he speaks highly of her cooking, his tone isn’t forceful; rather, his eyes reveal his innermost, sincere emotions.
Slowly, the memory of when they were at Zachary’s mountain pine villa came back to her. At the time, she felt like part of his family.
Sienna gently shook her head, trying to push those memories aside before refocusing on Skylar.
She saw that the little man’s second waffle was almost finished, and his glass of milk was now empty.
"Do you want some milk?"
He nods.
However, before Sienna was able to stand from her seat to take milk for Skylar, Zachary suddenly spoke—
"Sky, you won’t be able to eat lunch."
"It’s alright, daddy. I still have some space in my tummy for a glass of milk."
Zachary shook his head but said nothing.
Sienna smiled and stood to get milk for Skylar while the little boy happily continued eating his third waffle.
When she poured the milk into a glass for him, the waffle was already wholly eaten.
"Thank you, Aunty."
"You’re most welcome, Sky."
Later,
When breakfast finally ended, Skylar rubbed his belly, looking satisfied.
However, once the table was cleared, Sienna suddenly felt sorry for Skylar. Her apartment was simply too small for Skylar to play around or stretch himself after a hearty breakfast.
She stared at the television, trying to come up with activities for Skylar until lunch was ready.
’Maybe cartoons? Or maybe drawing? Maybe—’
"Aunty," Skylar suddenly called out.
Sienna turned to him immediately.
"Yes?"
"I have a gift for you."
Her eyes widened slightly in surprise. "A gift? For me?"
Skylar nodded excitedly before suddenly rushing toward the sofa where his backpack rested.
Sienna instinctively turned toward Zachary with a questioning look, silently asking him what his son was planning.
But Zachary only gave her a small smile before casually sitting on the sofa like he knew exactly what was happening.
That somehow made her even more curious.
A few seconds later, Skylar returned, carefully holding a medium-sized box with both hands.
"Aunty, I hope you like it..." he said softly.
Sienna immediately softened.
"Thank you, Sky..." She carefully accepted the box before slowly opening it.
At first, she looked confused, but seconds later, she froze completely.
Inside the box was a gold-framed photograph.
And inside it, her picture. It was a close-up picture of her during their picnic at Pine Mountain.
She remembered that day clearly, the first time she had a picnic.
But what surprised her most was Zachary beside her. Even though his picture looked out of focus, she could clearly see it was him. He was completely focused on her.
’Why does this picture look like an engagement picture? No. Not that. It was more like a wedding picture!’
The picture did not look like two people who had accidentally ended up in the same frame, far from that. It looked more like two people sharing an intimate moment in a single frame.
She didn’t know why, but her heart felt warmed as she continued to stare at the framed photograph in her hands.
For a moment, she could not even speak properly. Because the gift felt far too sincere and personal.
