The room became quiet again.
But not long after, Zachary suddenly spoke.
"She’s already meeting Sky."
Scott was stunned, his eyebrows rising sharply. "Wow!" He looked at him in disbelief. "You work so damn fast, Zach..."
But the amusement faded slowly when another thought struck him.
"Wait," Scott said, his expression grew more serious. "Did Sky like her?"
Something subtle shifted in Zachary’s expression, and Scott noticed it instantly.
"Hmm," Zachary answered softly. "He likes her a lot." He paused for a few seconds before continuing, "And she likes him a lot, too."
Scott burst into laughter, his laughter echoing through the room. Zachary shot him a sharp glare, then pointed toward the door as a reminder that Sienna was sleeping in the next room.
"Mr. Sterling," Scott lowered his voice dramatically. "...No wonder you look so calm. You already secured Miss Sienna using my little boss, Skylar."
Zachary shook his head, gazing at the untouched coffee.
After a few seconds, he finally picked up the coffee and took a casual sip, ignoring Scott, who still stared at him with curiosity.
Scott studied him for a few moments before a knowing smile slowly spread across his face. "What about you? Do you like her?" he asked.
Silence settled between them.
Zachary lowered his gaze to the coffee cup in his hand, taken aback by Scott’s question. His fingers tightened slightly around it.
’Do you like her?’ he repeated the question in his mind.
It took him a few more seconds before he finally answered, "I don’t know."
Scott chuckled at his response. "No way, man! How could you not know your own feelings?"
Zachary shot him an icy look without saying anything more.
"Man, don’t give me that corporate CEO answer," Scott playfully said.
"It wasn’t a corporate answer."
"It absolutely was."
Zachary took another sip of coffee, calmly ignoring him.
Scott leaned closer and whispered, "Zach, let me translate for you."
"No."
"Too late, man—"
Scott cleared his throat before continuing, "’I don’t know’ means yes. ’Maybe’ means absolutely yes. And silence?" He pointed aggressively toward Zachary. "Silence means you’re already doomed."
Zachary stared at him nonchalantly. "You finished?"
Scott smiled happily. "Not even close."
Zachary slowly set down his coffee.
"Scott Anderson!"
"Yes?"
"Sleep deprivation is affecting your judgment."
Scott smirks. "And feelings are affecting yours."
Zachary says nothing; he falls silent again.
Scott chuckled at his best friend’s reaction, then stood up from his chair. "Alright, Zach, I promise I won’t tease you again—at least until lunchtime. I need to get back to work."
However, before he left, he turned to Zachary.
"Zach, call me if you need anything."
Zachary simply waved his hand, as if telling him to leave immediately.
...
After Scott left, the room fell silent again. Zachary’s gaze drifted once again toward the closed bedroom door where Sienna rested.
