"I really can’t understand why my stupid brother chose you," Zoey said with a mocking smile. "I wonder what he sees in you. You have no class or manners at all. Is that why you still dare to speak to me like this?"
Sienna clenched her hands tightly, refusing to look away from Zoey. She took a few moments to calm and organize her thoughts before finally speaking in a calm, steady voice.
"Excuse me. Did you call me here because of work matters or because of Zach?"
Instead of answering right away, Zoey slowly shook her head, a faint smile of amusement appearing on her lips. She sat back comfortably in her chair, looking completely at ease, as though she was certain Sienna wouldn’t dare walk out of the room after coming this far.
After letting the silence linger for a few moments, Zoey narrowed her eyes. Finally, she replied, "It’s about both the work, about this company, and also about Zach. Now sit down, and let’s talk."
Her voice had become calmer than before, but the coldness in her eyes hadn’t changed.
It was enough to make Sienna pause before quietly returning to her seat.
Deep down, Sienna wanted to leave. She had no interest in discussing anything related to her relationship with Zachary while he wasn’t there to speak for himself. However, Zoey had also mentioned the work and the company. As an employee, Sienna had no reasonable excuse to refuse the conversation.
She sat down once again, keeping her posture straight as she waited for Zoey to continue.
To her surprise, Zoey remained silent.
Just like before, she simply watched Sienna without saying another word, as though she were carefully choosing each word before speaking. The silence stretched on, making the atmosphere even more uncomfortable.
Sienna finally let out a slightly loud sigh and broke the silence herself.
"You asked to talk, so talk, Ms. Sterling," Sienna said. There was a trace of impatience in her voice that she couldn’t completely hide.
Zoey tilted her head slightly before speaking in the same flat tone. "Because this is also related to my brother, you can drop the formality and just call me Zoey."
Before Sienna had the chance to respond, Zoey continued without hesitation.
"Tell me, how could my brother possibly fall for you? What exactly did you do to him?"
Sienna silently sighed.
Hearing those words reminded her of Riley’s warning. Riley had once told her to run away from Zachary because his family was far from ordinary; someone from the Sterling family would never truly accept a woman with her background. Their world was built on wealth, influence, and status, while hers was completely different.
As Sienna sat across from Zoey and heard her speak with a dismissive tone, she couldn’t help but realize that Riley had been right all along.
Keeping her emotions under control, she met Zoey’s gaze.
After a couple of seconds, she answered calmly, "Zoey, I’m sorry, but you’re asking the wrong person. If you want the answer to that question, you should ask Zach."
Although her voice remained polite, a small part of her couldn’t hide the annoyance growing inside her.
