The Billionaire's Insignificant Wife novel Chapter 130

The Trap Tightens

Mrs. Helen finished feeding Alina carefully.

Half a bowl of porridge made it in. Better than nothing at all.

“Good, Miss,” she said while placing the empty bowl back on the tray. “You must keep eating. To maintain your strength.”

Alina nodded slowly. Her eyes still puffy but slightly more focused now.

Mrs. Helen stood. Took the tray.

“I’ll be back later with lunch. Get enough rest.”

She turned toward the door.

But before leaving, Mrs. Helen threw one last glance at Alina.

The young woman had returned to curling up in the corner. Hugging her own knees. Staring blankly at the floor.

Destroyed. Broken. Afraid.

Mrs. Helen felt her chest tighten again.

But she couldn’t do anything more now.

She’d already taken photos. Already got evidence.

Now she just had to send them to Emma.

Mrs. Helen left the room. Closed the door slowly.

Mr. Harris still stood in the corridor. Staring at her sharply.

“Finished?”

“Yes. Mrs. Alina ate half the portion. I’ll return later for lunch.”

Mr. Harris nodded briefly. Didn’t comment further.

Mrs. Helen walked past him with calm steps.

Though her heart pounded hard.

The phone in her pocket felt heavy. Full of evidence that could destroy Daniel Blackwood’s reputation.

Evidence that could save Alina.

Or destroy them all if discovered.

Mrs. Helen went down to the lower floor. She returned to the kitchen and handed the dirty tray to the kitchen assistant, then walked quickly to her small office behind the storage room.

Closed the door. Locked it from inside.

Took out her phone with trembling hands.

Opened the gallery. Looked at the photos just taken.

Alina’s bruised face. Swollen eyes. Cracked lips.

Real evidence of violence.

Mrs. Helen drew a deep breath.

Then opened Emma’s contact and typed a quick message.

“Miss Emma, I have evidence. Photos of injuries on Mrs. Alina’s face. She said she wants to report the violence committed by Mr. Daniel.”

She attached the three clearest photos.

Then pressed the send button.

Mrs. Helen stared at the phone screen with bated breath. Her forehead furrowed seeing the message she sent only showing one checkmark.

No signal on her phone.

Mrs. Helen moved to the corner of the room, searching for signal. Raised the phone higher. Walked near the

window.

But no change.

One checkmark. Message not sent.

“Damn,” she muttered softly.

She tried again. Pressed the resend button.

Still unsuccessful.

Mrs. Helen drew a deep breath. Tried to stay calm.

Maybe later the signal would return. She just needed to wait.

She stored the phone back in her pocket carefully.

Opened her office door to return to work.

But as soon as she left the room, Mrs. Helen immediately froze.

Mr. Harris stood right in front of the door, staring at her coldly.

“Mrs. Helen,” he said in a flat tone.

Mrs. Helen swallowed. Tried to look calm though her heart pounded hard.

“Mr. Harris. Can I help you with something?”

“Come with me.”

Not a request, but an order.

Mr. Harris signaled to two security guards standing behind him.

Two large men stepped forward. Stood flanking Mrs. Helen from left and right.

Mrs. Helen knew she was caught.

Somehow, they knew what she’d just done.

But she wouldn’t show fear.

She lifted her chin. Looked at Mr. Harris calmly.

“What are you doing? Where are you taking me?”

“You’ll find out.”

Mr. Harris turned. Walked ahead.

Two guards escorted Mrs. Helen from behind. Making sure she followed.

Mrs. Helen walked with firm steps.

Her hand in her pocket gripped her phone tightly.

The photos were still stored there.

The message to Emma still unsent..

All of it would backfire if discovered, but there was nothing Mrs. Helen could do. She could only surrender.

Escorted to be judged.

At Blackwood Enterprises headquarters, Daniel sat at his desk.

The morning meeting had just ended. Now he was alone in the room.

Staring at the laptop screen but not really reading anything.

His mind drifted back to the house.

To Alina.

To her destroyed face last night.

To her soundless crying.

To her body trembling in fear when Daniel tried to touch her.

Daniel massaged his throbbing temples.

He didn’t regret doing it.

No.

It needed to be done to bind Alina to him.

To ensure she couldn’t leave.

But seeing the result. Seeing Alina completely destroyed like a broken doll. Something in Daniel’s chest felt uncomfortable.

Not regret.

Just discomfort.

Daniel’s phone vibrated on the desk.

Daniel picked it up. Message from Mr. Harris.

“Sir, Mrs. Helen brought breakfast for Mrs. Alina this morning. She fed Madam and spoke with her quite long. I couldn’t hear their conversation clearly but it looked suspicious. We are currently securing her.”

Daniel furrowed his brow.

Mrs. Helen.

The servant who had worked at the Blackwood house for almost twenty years, but was very close to Alina.

Daniel typed a reply.

“Examine thoroughly. If there’s anything detrimental to me, report immediately.”

The reply from Mr. Harris came quickly.

“Yes, Sir.”

Daniel put down the phone.

Stared at the laptop screen again but still unfocused.

Something felt wrong.

But he wasn’t sure what it was.

At the penthouse, Margaret closed her laptop after watching the recording of Mrs. Helen taking photos this morning.

She picked up her phone. Called someone.

Two rings later a woman’s voice answered.

“Mamah?”

“Clarissa. We need to talk immediately. Where are you now?”

“I’m already on the way. Will arrive in fifteen minutes.”

“Good. Come quickly. There’s a lot we need to discuss.”

Margaret closed the phone.

Returned to her laptop. Opened the CCTV feed of Alina’s room.

The woman still curled in the corner. Not moving.

Broken. Destroyed. Helpless.

But behind all that, Margaret felt uneasy. She was sure Alina was planning something with Mrs. Helen.

Clarissa arrived at the penthouse fifteen minutes later.

She exited the elevator with a curious face. Didn’t know exactly why Margaret called her with such urgent tone.

Margaret was already waiting at the door. Opened it before Clarissa knocked.

“Come in,” she said briefly.

Clarissa entered. Followed Margaret to the spacious living room with large windows facing the city.

“Sit,” Margaret pointed to the sofa.

Clarissa sat carefully. Still confused about this situation.

Margaret didn’t sit immediately. She stood in front of the window for a moment. Stared outside with an unreadable expression.

Then turned to face Clarissa.

“We need to talk about your position in the Blackwood family,” Margaret said straight to the point. “You’ve returned as Junior’s mother. That’s good. But it’s not enough.”

Clarissa furrowed her brow. “Not enough how?”

“You must move faster. More aggressive.” Margaret walked closer to Clarissa. “Daniel is in a weak position now. His relationship with Alina is very bad. And Alina is far from Junior. This is your chance to get them both.”

Clarissa stared at Margaret with wide eyes. “What do you mean, Mamah?”
