Lysander's childhood was marred by the constant bickering of his parents, a situation that ended with their sudden departure from his life.
The absence of paternal and maternal affection turned him into a colder, more aloof and ruthless individual than most.
Yet, the daughter of the man responsible for the ruin of his family and the death of his parents, had borne him four children.
Those four children were so adorable that Zephyr barely had enough time to shower them with love.
How could he stand watching them grow up like Lysander did, deprived of parental affection?
But how could Lysander handle himself?
Every day, he faced the daughter of his enemy, watching her interact joyfully with their children, witnessing the deep bond between mother and kids.
But what could he possibly do?
After all, Thalassa was the biological mother of the children.
These were all Lysander's karma.
"Grandpa, you should just relax and enjoy your golden years at the Sinclair's house. Don't worry about anything else. Take care of your health and don't give me any reason to worry," Lysander comforted Zephyr.
"I'll handle everything else."
Zephyr sighed, "Well, you're thirty now and capable of standing on your own. I trust you'll handle things appropriately and not fall for Thalassa."
Love was the final boundary. If he crossed, there would be no turning back.
As long as he guarded his heart and didn’t fall for Thalassa, what was the harm in spending a lifetime dealing with her?
But Zephyr feared Lysander’s defense would crumble, in which case he would follow in his father's footsteps.
"Alright," Lysander agreed.
As Thalassa was enjoying a meal with the children, a man with a refined air and a constant gentle smile on his lips approached, "May I join you?"
Thalassa looked up and recognized the man as Callum, whom she had just been introduced to by Ethan.
Thalassa was surprised. She just met Callum for once and they barely knew each other. So what could he possibly want to talk to her about?
"Do you mind if I have a private chat with your mom?" Callum asked Elowen, his eyes twinkling with amusement. He also glanced at the other three kids to seek their approval.
There was no denying that he had a knack for making children feel comfortable, especially with his warm, inviting smile.
"A private chat? That sounds fun! So you will chat privately with my mom and we will guess what you're talking about, right?" Elowen's eyes lit up with curiosity.
"That sounds fun. Go on, talk to my mom," Dorian urged with a hint of interest in his voice.
"Alright then," Callum replied with a smile. He leaned in towards Thalassa, ready to whisper.
Sitting between Elowen and Thalassa, he was perfectly positioned to lean towards Thalassa. He was taller than her, so he only had to incline his body slightly to reach her ear.
Thalassa stiffened at his scent in proximity.
Just then, Lysander emerged from the conference room. His intense gaze fell upon the scene unfolding before him. His eyes instantly frosted over and chilled to the core.
