“You really have a solution?” Karla’s eyes shone with hope.
“Yeah,” Claire said, a sudden spark of inspiration lighting in her voice.
“Wait, does this mean Oakley’s going to have scars too?” Karla pressed.
Her own wound would only leave a faint mark, but Oakley’s situation was another story. His injuries were so much worse.
“Yeah, his face got hit pretty badly,” Karla admitted. “I was thinking I’d take him in for some cosmetic treatments after he recovers, but he still has filming to do. I’m worried the timing won’t work out. Is your ointment a fast healer?”
Claire had to admit, Karla was showing her a lot of trust. If it were anyone else, they’d probably never risk letting a homemade ointment touch a celebrity’s face.
“This ointment’s not just any remedy,” Claire explained. “It’s actually a formula my mentor handed down to me. It works pretty fast. As soon as a wound scabs, you can apply it. But are you sure you want to try it? Oakley isn’t just any guy. What if he’s allergic, or if it doesn’t work? You know he could blame you.”
That could turn out to be a huge hassle.
Karla was surprised by how considerate Claire was being. “Don’t worry,” she assured her. “I know Oakley. He has a good head on his shoulders. Besides, he’s got more injuries than just on his face. I’ll have him test it quietly, just a small area first.”
“Alright,” Claire said, finally feeling at ease. As long as Oakley wasn’t the type to throw blame around, things should be fine.
Karla hung up, then headed straight back to Oakley’s hospital room. She told him everything. “Remember how I told you my niece studied both Eastern and Western medicine? Her mentor passed down a scar-removal ointment to her. Want to give it a shot? It’s all herbal extracts.”
Even though everything was set with Claire, Karla still thought she should ask Oakley before doing anything. If he wasn’t comfortable, there was no need to push.
This girl must be a diehard Oakley fan, right?
But then someone in the know spoke up: She’s not even a fan. She was just tagging along on set.
Finding out she wasn’t even a fan made what Claire did even more impressive.
Meanwhile, Claire had no clue she was blowing up online. But Shirley, her cousin, was all over the internet as soon as she heard Oakley was injured. She searched everywhere for updates. When she saw the rescue video, she didn’t recognize Claire at first. Later, she caught a glimpse of her side profile and started to have a feeling. Still, she hesitated.
After chatting with other fans in a group chat and realizing everyone wanted to find out who the mystery rescuer was, it finally clicked for Shirley.
Hold up, guys. That girl looks a little like my sister. Let me check with her first.
