The Billionaire's True Heiress From Fake Jewel to Real Crown novel Chapter 491

“We only wanted Cindy to relax a little, you know, stop obsessing over Claire. Stop comparing herself to her,” Octavia said, still feeling wronged.

“Cindy’s just not in a good headspace right now. If having that guaranteed admission spot could take some of the pressure off, maybe she’d finally be able to focus on studying. Honestly, it’d be good for her.”

“As for whether The Cabinda University actually accepts this transferred spot or not, that doesn’t even matter much to me.”

“Cindy’s always had decent grades. If she can get her head on straight, she should have no problem getting into a top university.”

“And when she gets in, won’t everyone be happy?”

Octavia really didn’t see anything wrong with her logic, but Latham was honestly stunned.

“What makes you think Claire should just give you her admission spot?”

Octavia looked at him like he was the one being unreasonable. “We raised her. Isn’t it only fair that she repays us a little?”

“And really, she’s been using the resources that should’ve belonged to Cindy all along. I’m not even asking for much. Just the one admission spot.”

“She’s taking the entrance exams anyway. With her grades, of course she’s getting into The Cabinda University. I’m just asking for something she doesn’t even need.”

“Is it really that unreasonable?”

Latham let out a heavy sigh. “You’re making it sound way too simple. If Claire decided to offer Cindy that spot on her own, fine, no problem.”

“But if you ask for it outright, it’s like you’re holding it over her head, making her feel like she owes you. That’s not right.”

“Octavia, I know you. You feel guilty toward Cindy, and you somehow think Claire owes her, too, so now you want to make it right. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to do things.”

“Going about it like this will only make Claire want to leave us for good. She’ll be completely done with us.”

“And after everything that happened online… you seriously have the nerve to ask her for a favor?”

“She isn’t stupid. She’d be crazy to even talk to us at this point.”

So this is really how her dad thinks of her.

“How could you say that about Cindy?” Octavia shot back. “I transferred her to Silverpeak because I didn’t want people looking down on her.”

“She’s our biological daughter. If Claire goes to Silverpeak and Cindy’s stuck in an ordinary school, of course people will think we don’t care about the daughter who just came home.”

“That would just make her a target for bullies.”

“Having her in the same class as Claire was supposed to help—Claire could watch out for her, make her feel included.”

“How was I supposed to know Claire would get so upset and want to cut us off?”

“If you ask me, this is all because you and Pandora spoiled her rotten!” Octavia shouted, frustration finally spilling over.

In her heart, she couldn’t stand that her own daughter seemed to come up short compared to Claire, and that just made everything feel so much worse.
