By Friday afternoon, Celeste had finally finished dealing with everything on her schedule.
She rubbed her slightly sore shoulders and rested for a while. Then, as if she suddenly remembered something, she paused and picked up the phone beside her.
She called Jordyn, who answered quickly. "Mom."
Celeste hummed before asking gently, "Are you out of school?"
"Yeah."
Since the day of Jordyn's first day at her new school, the two of them had only been in touch once, and that had been because Celeste had called her. Celeste hadn't contacted Jordyn these past few days, and Jordyn hadn't reached out to her either.
Celeste wasn't surprised by that, nor did she think much of it. No matter what, Jordyn was her daughter. She still felt she should check in on her from time to time.
She took the initiative to start a conversation. "Have you made any plans for the next two days? Anywhere you want to go?"
Jordyn's voice was calm. "No. Dad went on a business trip. He's not home."
Celeste never went out of her way to keep track of Trevor's schedule, so she had no idea he'd left on a business trip. "Oh..."
She was silent for two seconds before continuing. "My company is having a team-building trip this weekend. We're leaving in a little while. Do you want to come with me?
"But it'll just be my coworkers, so there won't be any other kids. And I will probably have to take care of some work on Saturday and Sunday too, so I won't be able to stay with you the whole time..."
Jordyn hadn't sounded particularly excited when she first called Celeste, but at those words, she finally perked up. "That's okay. I want to go."
"Okay. Then have someone pack your things. I'll come pick you up later."
"Okay!"
More than half an hour later, Celeste arrived at the residence where Trevor and Jordyn lived.
Jordyn was already waiting at the entrance. The moment she saw Celeste arrive, she grabbed her backpack and ran toward her. "Mom!"
Celeste bent down and gave her a brief hug. "Mm."
Hannah was standing nearby. "Dinner's already prepared, Mrs. Fleming. Why don't you have dinner before you leave?"
Celeste didn't want to go inside. "No, thanks. The company has a dinner planned tonight. I'll eat at the hotel."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Breaking Point of Love (Celeste and Trevor)
I know everyone will not agree with me and I also know that Trevor is a trash and all but I want Trevor and Celeste to get back together. They should be the end game and for that to happen Trevor should start working hard for that second chance....
So we're going to go on for another 15 chapter's about jordan's temper tantrum with neither of the parents asking her what's wrong..stop milking it. The only reason i'm still reading is because i cant leave a book unfinished. What I'm pissed about is the book started with promise and turned into a circus....
The story should just come to an end and the writer should give their reader the closure they deserve. There's no point in keeping the story going. It's been the same since the start. Not has changed. The initial story plot was, that Celeste and Trevor are getting devorce and still after 800 + chapter, they are still heading for a devorce....
Don’t Shaws and Lockets reflect ever on themselves? Every difficult situation, they look forward to Wynn to ask for Trevor to help. Initially the focus of the novel was on how Wynn is so accomplished blah blah and now - she is just a useless person, incapable of anything. Irritating storyline...
I'm starting to get bored and I can't predict exactly where the story is headed....
Beck being the only actual adult to ask a child what’s wrong...
Can we get to the point its stagnant and I am unimpressed,I don't care about the company being in trouble nor the inner thoughts of others. Come on now....
Its a good thing both jordan parents are loaded. They going to spend a lot for Jordan therapy. 😂...
Wynn has no shame. And keeping the staff well beyond their work hours is an a-hole move....
I am again fed up with the storyline..it is just exhausting to keep reading only one side of story - where people are living in their own righteous bubble and assumptions....
