The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 282

"So you're really determined to go down this path and marry that nobody detective?"

Nora considered revealing Nathan's true identity right then and there.

But she hesitated, worried that Aaron might suffer a complete breakdown and do something unhinged.

Besides, choosing a simple detective over him would deal a much heavier blow to his massive ego.

Let him eat his heart out.

As far as Nora was concerned, this relationship was dead and buried.

"If you don't believe me, I'll be sure to mail you an invitation."

Aaron clenched his fists tightly, glaring at her with undisguised fury. "Fine! You made this choice yourself, Nora. Don't come crawling back to me when you finally regret it!"

With that, he turned on his heel and stormed off.

He tried to walk with absolute resolve, but his rigid posture betrayed his panic.

Nora calmly looked away and stepped into the elevator.

She had been delayed for so long with Aaron that she wondered if the others were getting anxious.

Exiting the elevator, Nora quickened her pace and immediately spotted Nathan walking toward her in the parking lot.

"What took so long? I was about to go up and look for you."

Nora's heart warmed. She stepped forward and naturally looped her arm through his. "Ran into a little trouble. I'll tell you about it later."

A flash of understanding crossed Nathan's eyes as he instantly guessed she had run into Aaron.

He let out a displeased scoff, his tone carrying a hint of childish annoyance. "That guy just doesn't know when to quit, does he?"

Nora let out a soft laugh.

"Alright, don't waste your energy getting mad over someone who isn't worth it."

Nathan nodded. "Whatever you say."

Nora's cheeks flushed.

"You're going to listen to whatever I say?"

Nathan offered a low hum. "Grandpa told me that listening to your wife is the secret to a successful life."
