The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 438

It was only after he officially got together with Mia that Aaron realized what a colossal mistake he had made.

"Nora, I just wanted to see how you're doing."

He looked at her with a pathetic, fawning expression, reaching out to grab her arm.

Nora stared at his hand in total disgust and took two swift steps back, dodging him entirely.

Aaron looked genuinely wounded by her rejection.

"Nora..."

His voice cracked into a whimper. "I know I messed up. Can you please forgive me?"

"I never loved Mia. It was just the thrill of something new. And honestly, I only did it so I could give you a better life!"

"I thought if I could get promoted to Chief of Surgery and make real money, I could buy us a massive house and throw you the wedding of your dreams! I never wanted to hurt you!"

"Aaron, you can lie to whoever you want, but stop lying to yourself."

"Besides, did you suffer a traumatic brain injury? I have a fiancé. You and I have been over for a long time."

Aaron's brow furrowed in disbelief.

"That cop? You actually haven't dumped him yet?"

Nora's blood boiled. "You're the one who got dumped!"

"Actually, no, Mia probably won't even give you the dignity of a breakup. Let me guess why you're crawling back here. Mia is a nightmare, Leonard is a selfish tyrant, and being with them feels like you're just a puppet on their strings. So suddenly, you remembered how good you had it with me?"

Aaron's face drained of all color.

"Nora, I..."

Seeing his reaction, Nora knew she had hit the bullseye.

She let out a harsh scoff, her tone dripping with absolute mockery. "Aaron, I hate repeating myself, so consider this the absolute last time we ever speak."

"The moment you chose to sleep with Mia, whatever we had was dead and buried. Do not ever approach me again. I am not a recycling bin for trash."

Being called trash made a momentary flash of pure malice contort Aaron's face.

But remembering why he was there, he quickly masked it, forcing his features back into a mask of profound sorrow.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?!"

"Are you saying you regret ever being with me?"

Nora didn't say a word, but the icy finality in her eyes screamed her answer.

"You—!"

Aaron felt like his lungs were going to explode.

He had banked on the fact that seven years of history meant something. He assumed that because she had sacrificed so much for him in the past, he would always have a safety net to fall back on.

He never expected her to sever ties so ruthlessly.

He knew her.

The fact that Nora openly admitted she regretted their entire relationship meant she had truly, completely moved on.

But he couldn't accept that!
