The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 491

Nora pinched Nathan hard, her face dark. "Let go of me!"

Nathan didn't actually feel any pain.

But to make Nora feel sorry for him, he let out an exaggerated gasp, his face scrunching up in mock agony. "Are you mad?"

Nora couldn't tell if he was genuinely hurt or just faking it.

She wasn't entirely sure of her own strength.

Especially since she had just been dying of embarrassment, she inevitably used a bit more force than intended.

Thinking this, Nora felt a pang of guilt. She reached out and gently rubbed the spot she had just pinched, her voice still cool but laced with genuine concern. "Does it hurt a lot?"

Nathan knew Nora had a hopelessly soft heart.

His eyes crinkled into a dazzling smile. He caught her hand, brought it to his lips, and pressed a tender kiss to the back of it. "It doesn't hurt," he teased softly. "I was just tricking you."

Nora let out a breathless laugh.

"At least you're honest."

Nathan nuzzled his forehead against hers. "How else would I get you to dote on me?"

"I was a bit reckless just now, but Nora, you have to understand."

His gaze darkened, shifting slightly as his voice dropped to a husky, vulnerable whisper. "After all, I've been holding back for years."

Nora froze.

When the meaning of his words fully hit her, a fiery blush swept across her cheeks.

"You really are..."

She wanted to scold him, but found she simply didn't have the heart.

After all, the person this man had been waiting for all this time was her.

Meanwhile, during those same years, she had thought she and Aaron were deeply in love, even discussing marriage.

"Don't do that again," she warned lightly.

Thinking about how Valerie had witnessed their intimate moment and was probably off somewhere laughing her head off, Nora's face burned even hotter.

She gently pushed his hand away and murmured, "I need to go back."
