The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 519

"Holy shit!"

Julia gasped in sheer panic as the sunlight caught the glint of a vicious hunting knife.

Nora, however, hadn't even blinked.

She had been tracking the heavy, rigid outline pressing against the fabric of his trousers ever since he first turned to shout at Julia by the gates.

She had spent the entire walk meticulously analyzing his body language and calculating his strike distance.

She knew the ambush was coming. It was just a matter of when.

"Nathan and the team..." Julia started, but her words were cut short as the man lunged at them with a feral roar.

Despite her petite frame and the blinding panic threatening to overwhelm her, Julia wasn't helpless. Before joining the forensics lab, she had been required to pass a basic tactical defense course at the academy.

It had been years since she had stepped onto a mat, but muscle memory is a powerful thing. She sidestepped the sweeping blade with an agility born of pure survival instinct.

Nora didn't hesitate. She stepped directly into the man's blind spot, launching a brutal, calculated strike at his knee.

The man let out a grunt of shock. He had expected two terrified women to cower and beg. He certainly hadn't expected them to counterattack with coordinated precision.

His sadistic grin completely vanished, replaced by a mask of stunned agony as Nora's kick connected.

Seizing the crucial window of opportunity, Nora grabbed a heavy coil of livestock rope hanging off a nearby fence post. Moving in tandem, she and Julia swarmed him.

The man thrashed wildly, bellowing in humiliated rage as he realized he was being overpowered.

"Get the hell off me! You crazy bitches! I'll kill you!" he roared, thrashing like a wild animal.

He threw his weight around with reckless, frenzied power.

For a terrifying second, his raw strength threatened to break their hold.

But the reinforced nylon rope was designed to restrain thousand-pound cattle. He was outmatched.

Nora and Julia braced their boots against the dirt and yanked the ends of the rope in opposite directions. The slipknot cinched tight, cutting into the man's torso. He let out a strangled gasp as the breath was forced from his lungs.

"You're dead!" he wheezed, his face turning an angry shade of purple.

"I'm going to bury you both!"

Julia delivered a vicious kick to his shin. "Shut the hell up! You just tried to stab us, you absolute psychopath!"
