The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 521

Nora glanced at her and spoke softly. "When we walked out."

Julia looked completely lost.

Good grief, she felt like she had suddenly developed amnesia.

Seeing her blank expression, Nora didn't beat around the bush. "I sent a message in the investigation group chat. I told them there was a major situation at Costello Ranch and to get here as soon as possible."

In truth, the moment she learned Nathan Peyton had brought a team to the ranch, Nora realized he had found a solid lead.

However, since she hadn't verified the details, she wasn't sure what new evidence they had uncovered over there.

But the moment she saw the hostile man, her suspicions were confirmed.

She was incredibly thankful she had taken precautions before stepping out the door.

Julia's face radiated awe and pure admiration for Nora.

"Thank goodness you always plan ahead, Nora. I didn't even think of that."

Fortunately, she had tagged along with Nora today.

Otherwise, who knew what kind of trouble she would have walked into.

Then again, if Nora hadn't gone out, she wouldn't have come either.

After all, she was just an assistant medical examiner. Going out to the field wasn't typically part of her job description.

"Just stay sharp next time," Nora advised.

Take the man downstairs, for example. His behavior had been noticeably off from the start.

If Julia had been a little more observant, she would have sensed something was wrong immediately.

"I know."

Julia scratched her head, looking a little embarrassed.

The second floor was even emptier than the first. Everything seemed to have been moved out, leaving only faint outlines in the dust where furniture used to sit.

Nora and Julia looked around. Julia suddenly pointed to a spot. "These marks are fresh!"

Nora leaned in for a closer look. Sure enough, there were fresh scuff marks, clearly layered over the thick layer of dust.

This meant someone had recently been pressed against the floor here.
