The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 523

"Guilty people?"

Julia turned to look at Nora. Seeing her silent, Julia kept her mouth shut too.

The man waited a long time for Nora to ask a follow-up question, but when she didn't, he couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Do you have any other questions?"

Julia thought this guy was ridiculously temperamental.

He claimed Frank's family was unhinged, but he wasn't doing much better himself.

Earlier, when they wanted him to talk, he acted like he'd rather die than spill a word.

Now he was desperate to confess, and he was getting defensive because they weren't interrogating him fast enough.

"If you have something to say, just say it. This isn't an interrogation room, and we aren't going to use your words as testimony in court."

They were just asking out of curiosity. They were medical examiners, not detectives.

The man clearly hadn't considered that. He froze for a moment, then shifted his gaze back to Nora.

"You already figured something out, didn't you?"

He scoffed lightly. "Don't try to play me. If you didn't know something, you wouldn't have suspected me."

Nora nodded. Squatting wasn't comfortable, so she slowly stood up.

"I did have some theories."

"But I suspected you because you couldn't control your micro-expressions. It had nothing to do with my theory."

Intrigued, the man asked, "So what did you guess?"

Nora glanced at him.

He looked completely resigned, as if his secret was out and nothing mattered anymore.

But Nora needed to buy time.

So, she didn't brush off his question. Instead, she thought carefully about her wording before speaking.

"Frank's uncle died right here on this ranch."
