The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 606

"Remember what you said last time we talked about colleagues? Did you know back then that we might end up working with Nolan?"

Nathan wasn't surprised by Nora's sharpness.

After all, he knew this day would come.

"I knew Nolan had been 'drafted,' but I didn't know for sure he'd be assigned to our task force."

Nora felt he was holding back.

But thinking about it, he really had no reason to lie about something like this.

She nodded. "So what position are you planning to give Nolan on the Special Task Force?"

The police department certainly had tech specialists.

However, the Special Task Force didn't have a dedicated role for one.

"Technical Consultant."

Nathan clearly had Nolan's arrangement figured out well in advance.

Nora hummed in agreement and didn't press further.

She had a pretty good read on Nathan by now.

He could be jealous, but he never dropped the ball when it came to serious business.

"It's about time. We should head to the boutique."

Nora wouldn't dare forget today's main event.

After all, Valerie had been blowing up her phone with reminders. If she forgot, Valerie would probably show up and drag her there.

"Alright."

Nathan checked his phone. The station hadn't sent any updates yet. He figured the intruder probably hadn't spilled anything, a flash of understanding crossing his eyes.

If the guy cracked under a little pressure, he wouldn't have had the guts to pull a stunt like that in the first place.

"Let's go."

"Harold is so thoughtful."

Nora checked out the interior.

She hadn't ridden in a Land Rover before, but she could tell the quality of the interior just by feel.

Nathan's car matched his vibe perfectly—cool, minimalist, without a single unnecessary item in sight.

The car seemed freshly detailed, carrying a pleasant, crisp scent.

Under Nathan's guidance, Nora started the engine. It took her a few minutes to get the hang of it, but she adapted quickly.

The Land Rover merged onto the main road, heading toward Luminport City's largest bridal boutique.

...

At the same time, the police finally arrived at Mia's hospital room.

Seeing the uniforms, Mia panicked for a second but quickly recovered, putting on a highly impatient expression. "So what if you're cops? Do we not have human rights? Can't you see I'm hospitalized? What exactly do you want?"
