The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 89

"A female worker at the textile factory."

Nathan's gaze fell to his arm.

Nora's fingers were longer and more slender than the average woman's, and at a glance, they could be mistaken for a slim young man's hand.

From long-term exposure to chemicals, her fingertips weren't rosy.

The pads of her fingers were calloused from holding a scalpel.

Nathan felt a warmth spreading from where she held him.

A tingling sensation radiated outward from that spot.

His eyes flickered. Nathan forced himself to look away, his voice so soft it was as if he were afraid of startling someone. "What is it?"

Nora was still lost in her thoughts, completely oblivious to the fact that the man in front of her was blushing slightly.

"It's strange. If these kids couldn't have been Chloe's friends, why would that person tell the police to bring them in for questioning?"

"Unless—"

Nora's eyes shot up to meet Nathan's.

As their gazes locked, they spoke at almost the exact same time:

"She's stalling!"

Hearing each other say the same thing, they turned and walked out without another word.

"To the textile factory!"

Other officers quickly followed. The one who had questioned Nora's theory happened to be right beside her. Seeing everyone grab car keys, he took a set as well. "Dr. Hayes, you can ride with me."
