The CEO's Midnight Remedy novel Chapter 236

Aria’s POV

I watched Victoria’s face transform from anticipation to horror as she opened the door to suite 606. She stood frozen in the doorway, wearing highend black lace lingerie partially covered by a silk robe that hung open at the front. Her carefully applied makeup contrasted sharply with her suddenly pale complexion.

Howunexpected,I said, allowing my gaze to sweep over her attire. I must say, Victoria, I’ve never seen you looking quite sofestive.

Her eyes darted frantically between my father and me as her fingers clutched desperately at her robe, trying to close it. William? What are you doing here? This isthis is a misunderstanding-

My father said nothing, his face an impassive mask as he stepped around her and entered the suite. I followed, noting the $8,000pernight luxury accommodations with champagne on ice and rose petals scattered across the kingsized bed. The scent of expensive cologne hung in the air.

Where is he?My father’s voice was dangerously quiet. Your lover. Don’t tell me all this is just for your personal enjoyment.

Victoria’s hand trembled as she clutched her robe tighter. William, please. I can explain-

The sharp sound of a slap cut through the air. I flinched despite myself, knowing my father’s tendency toward physical expressions of anger when truly provoked. Victoria stumbled backward, her hand flying to her reddening cheek.

I noticed a slight movement in the drapes leading to the balcony. Without hesitation, I strode across the room and yanked the curtain aside. A muscular man wearing nothing but designer boxer briefs crouched behind it, his tanned skin glistening with nervous sweat

Well, hello,I said cheerfully, waving at him. Let me guessVictoria’s personal trainer? Working after hours? Such dedication is truly commendable.

I recognized him immediately as Eugene Foster, though I kept this knowledge to myself. His relationship with Victoria wasn’t just physicalthere were financial transactions between them as well. Eugene Foster was just very good at covering his tracks, and Garrett hadn’t found more evidence yet.

My father’s face contorted as he took in the scene. The veins in his forehead stood out prominently, and he placed his hand over his heart.

Dad?I asked, injecting just enough concern into my voice. Are you alright? Do we need to go to a

hospital?

He waved me away, his eyes never leaving Victoria and her halfnaked companion. Get dressed,he ordered them coldly. Both of you. Now.

I stepped back, watching the chaos unfold with a strange sense of detachment mingled with satisfaction. Four years of watching Victoria play the perfect wife while knowing she was anything butfour years of being gaslighted and manipulatedand finally, vindication was mine.

My father left first, stating he needed air. As I moved to follow him, Victoria grabbed my arm, her nails digging into my skin through my cashmere sleeve.

This was your doing, wasn’t it?she hissed, her composed facade completely shattered. Those photos someone sent to your father’s phone. The anonymous tip about where I’d be tonight. It was all you.

I smiled, carefully removing her hand from my arm. Victoria, you should really be more concerned with your blood pressure. After all, what’s coming next might be quite overwhelming for someone in yourposition.

Fear flickered in her eyes. What do you want from me?

You think I only know about your extramarital activities?I straightened my gloves deliberately. Don’t be so naive. There are far worse revelations waiting for you. Something to look

Her face paled further. You’re bluffing.

od to.

Am I?I leaned closer, my voice barely above a whisper I suggest you prepare yourself, Victoria. This is just the beginning.

Back at the Harper family residence, Elsa was waiting for me in the foyer. Her usually serene face was pinched with worry.

Miss Aria, she whispered, glancing nervously at the closed study door, you might want to make yourself scarce. The master hasn’t been this upset in years.

I nodded, removing my coat. Thank you, Elsa. I’ll keep that in mind.

Before I could say more, the front door opened. Two security guards escorted Victoria inside, her face now

scrubbed clean of makeup and her designer outfit replaced by a simple black dress. She looked smaller

somehow, diminished.

My father emerged from his study, his face set in granite. Freeze all her credit cards,he instructed the household manager who hovered nearby. Revoke all access to Harper Group properties and accounts. Restrict her to the east wing of the house.

Victoria stepped forward. William, if you would just let me-

I don’t want to see your face again,he cut her off, his voice eerily calm, until we’re sitting across from each other signing divorce papers.

I watched this exchange with quiet satisfaction, feeling the weight of four years of calculated patience finally paying off. Victoria glanced at me, hatred burning in her eyes, before security escorted her upstairs.

Elsa approached me carefully. Miss Aria, if you don’t mind my asking, what exactly happened?

I lowered my voice. Let’s just say Victoria’s extracurricular activities have finally come to light.I allowed myself a small smile. But this is just the opening act, Elsa. The main performance is yet to come.

Later that evening, the sound of a car screeching to a halt outside broke the tense silence that had settled over the house. Minutes later, Scarlett burst through the front door, her weekend party outfit clashing with her tearstreaked face and smudged eye makeup.

Dad? Mom?she called frantically, looking around the foyer. Her eyes landed on me, calmly flipping through a fashion magazine on the sofa. What’s going on? I got six missed calls and a text saying there’s a family emergency!

Elsa,I said without looking up, could you prepare some fresh blueberry juice and French toast? I’m a bit hungry. Dinner wasn’t quite satisfying.

Scarlett glared at me before running upstairs. Soon, I could hear her raised voice from the second floor, pleading with our father.

Dad, this has to be a mistake! Mom would never-

My father’s response was too quiet to hear clearly, but the coldness in his tone carried down the stairs.

Please, just let her explain- Scarlett’s voice cracked.

Don’t make me regret taking you in as well, came my father’s clear reply.
