The CEO's Regret: Darling, Don’t Leave Me novel Chapter 127

Chapter 93: A New Dawn-2

She leans back a little more against the headboard, arranging the fabric around her.

In that movement I noticed that one of her breasts had been exposed.

She notices it too. And she quickly pulls the sheet to cover herself completely.

I look away with a small smile that I try to hide.

This is… Weird.

“You have a nice apartment,” I say.

The phrase comes out of my mouth before I can think too much about how absurd it sounds after everything that happened last night.

Clara blinks, as if she also notices the strangeness of the comment. Then she looks around her own room.

“Yes,” she replies. “I bought it as soon as I arrived in the city.”

I nod slowly.

“It’s… nice.”

Silence again.

She plays with the edge of the sheet between her fingers, I run a hand through my hair. We’re having the most… strangely educated of history.

After having spent the night together, after having touched each other as if time had not passed. And now we’re here… talking about the department.

But maybe we both know why, because acknowledging what happened last night… out loud… it would make it too real.

So for now… We just pretend normality.

Clara moves first, gets out of bed with a quick movement, almost as if she had suddenly remembered that she is still completely naked in front of me. She takes the blankets and wraps herself in them from head to toe, forming a kind of white cocoon that barely shows her face.

The scene would be funny… if it weren’t so strangely tense.

Clears her throat a little.

“I’m going to take a shower,” she says, avoiding looking directly at me. “And what would you like to have for breakfast?”

I look at her for a second, I’m still sitting on the bed, with the sheets messy around.

“Excuse me…” I reply. “I take a shower first and go out to buy something for breakfast. Is that okay with YOU?

She denies it right away.

“No, it is not necessary. It is fine. I can prepare something, I have…”

She stops. She literally stops in the middle of the sentence.

Her eyes move to the side, as if she is desperately searching her memory for something to say.

“I have-” she repeats.

Silence.
