The CEO's Regret: Darling, Don’t Leave Me novel Chapter 239

Chapter 168: Back Again.-1

Clara

I wake up before him… my body feels everything that happened last night

I opened my eyes and tried to stretch, but I couldn’t.

I don’t know exactly what time of morning it is, only know that the light is just beginning to filter through the window, soft, timid… as if it doesn’t want to interrupt.

I’m in his arms again. And it doesn’t feel strange anymore. That’s the first thing I notice, there’s no

discomfort… nor any immediate doubts. That feeling of “what am I doing here?” is gone. Quite the

opposite, it feels… good. Natural. As if little by little this has becorge a part of me. A part of my days…

I lift my head slightly, I look at him… Ethan is still asleep. His breathing is deep, calm. His face… relaxed.

Very different from the man who always seems to be in control of everything. Not here, here he’s simply

himself.

I run my hand slowly over his chest, unhurriedly, feeling his warm skin beneath my fingers. There’s

something about that gesture… something small, almost insignificant… but it fills me with an unexpected

calm.

He barely stirs, a soft grunt. And without opening his eyes… he wraps his arm around me more tightly. He pulls me closer. My body presses against his, and I can’t help but smile. Because in that instant… I feel small, protected, safe.

I close my eyes for a second and remember the night before. Every moment, every word, every glance. I don’t need to replay the details… just the feeling. That tranquility, that connection, the way everything

seemed to fall into place effortlessly.

I take a deep breath and allow myself to stay there a few more minutes. Without thinking about what’s to come, without thinking about going back, without thinking about anything. Just… feeling. But time doesn’t

stop. It never does.

“Good morning…” he murmurs, his voice still hoarse from sleep.

I open my eyes. “Good morning.”

He barely lifts his head, looks at rne. And in his eyes there’s something that wasn’t there before, or maybe

it was… but now it’s clearer, more visible.

He leans in, his lips brushing mine, softly. Slowly.

“I don’t want to get up,” he says.

I smile.

“We have to.”

Chapter 168 Back Again

He sighs dramatically But he doesn’t protest anymore.

We separate slowly, get out of bed.

The cold air envelops us for a second and without saying much… we end up in the bathroom.

The shower becomes another little refuge, the water falling on us warm, relaxing. And even though time is

short… we can’t help but get closer.

His hands on my waist, mine on his chest.

Soft kisses, caresses that seek nothing more than to feel. They don’t need to rush, they don’t need to get anywhere. Because we’re already where we want to be, but time waits for no one.

“We have to go,” I say with a small laugh.

He rests his forehead against mine. “I know.”

We leave, we get ready. Everything returns to routine: clothes, quick movements, order. But even in that… there’s something different, something closer. More shared.

I finish getting dressed and when I see him with his shirt half-buttoned… I approach him without thinking.

“Come here.”

He raises an eyebrow, but says nothing. He just stands still. My hands take care of the buttons, one by one, slowly, carefully. And when I finish… I feel his gaze on me. I look up, and I find him watching me, fixed, intense, but not like before. Not like the man who analyzed, who calculated. This is different, more…

human.

“I’m happy again,” he says.
