While waiting at a red light, Franklin asked, "Are we heading back to the hotel?"
Without opening his eyes, Sebastian replied, "The Landon estate."
Franklin was surprised. It was nearly midnight. Why go to the estate so late?
At the Landon estate, Serena had been waiting in the living room for Sebastian. Hearing the car engine, she immediately dropped her phone and happily ran out to greet him.
Arthur had also been waiting, but around ten o'clock, he gave up and went upstairs, instructing the staff to wake him the moment Sebastian arrived.
A maid was already hurrying up the stairs to do just that.
Serena reached the front door just as Sebastian stepped onto the porch. He was tall, striking, and radiated an intimidating aura that naturally kept people at bay. But she felt she was the exception, a thought that gave her an immense sense of superiority.
"Sebastian."
Sebastian gave her a slight nod but didn't say a word, walking straight into the house.
Serena trailed closely behind him. "You must be starving since you're back so late. Should I have the kitchen make you a late-night snack?"
"Mr. St. John doesn't eat late at night," Franklin said, stepping smoothly between them, blocking her path.
He could tell the boss wasn't particularly fond of Serena, but she constantly threw herself at him. Since she was a Landon, Sebastian couldn't just tell her to get lost.
This was exactly why Franklin was so highly valued. His impeccable ability to read the room was what had earned him a permanent spot by the boss's side out of all the operatives.
Serena pouted. "Why are you always in the way?"
Sebastian walked into the living room just as Arthur came down the stairs. "Why are you back so late?" Arthur asked with concern.
Sebastian offered a low hum. "Sorry for the intrusion."
Arthur smiled warmly. "We're family, there's no need for that. Should I have the kitchen whip something up for you?"
"No need." Sebastian gestured toward the sofa. "Please, sit."
