"They're claiming that you two grew apart a long time ago and mutually agreed to divorce, but were waiting until after you gave birth to file the paperwork." Quinn scoffed, her voice dripping with righteous indignation. "They really know how to spin a lie. He explicitly cheated while you were married, and now they're framing it like this was a planned, amicable split?"

In that moment, Riley finally understood why Pierce had suddenly changed his tune and agreed to the divorce. He clearly just needed the certificate to silence the public outrage. She smiled indifferently. "Don't be mad. As long as I got the divorce, that's all that matters."

Once Alora finished her water, Mrs. Gable took her into her arms.

Quinn muttered, "I bet giving you that villa was just him buying your silence so you wouldn't publicly contradict his statement."

Truthfully, even if Pierce hadn't given her the house, as long as they didn't drag her name through the mud in their statement, she wouldn't have cared. She had completely moved on and wanted absolutely nothing more to do with the Landon family.

"I'm not touched at all," Riley said honestly. "Just a bit surprised. Besides, he was the one who screwed me over. He owes me an apology anyway."
