Riley hurried to the dining room to find Pierce slouched in his chair. Across from him, Sebastian was resting his head in his hand, his eyes closed as if he had fallen asleep. "What happened to him?"
Rubbing his throbbing temples, Pierce groaned. "I think he had too much to drink."
Riley frowned. "You were supposed to pace yourselves. How did you let him get drunk?"
"I didn't know his tolerance was this low."
They had split one bottle. Pierce was only slightly buzzed, but Sebastian was completely out of it.
"So what do we do now?" Riley asked.
"I tried calling Mr. Finch, but he's already left Statenbury for the night. Sebastian is going to have to crash here."
Crash here?
Riley winced. Sebastian wasn't like Pierce; plus, he literally owned the apartment. She couldn't very well make him sleep on the sofa.
Alora fluctuated between sleeping in Riley's room and Mrs. Gable's, which meant the nursery was theoretically vacant. But the idea of dumping a cold, untouchable billionaire in a room littered with baby toys felt absurdly inappropriate.
But since the study didn't have a bed, the nursery was the only viable option.
Bending down, Riley called softly, "Sebastian. Sebastian, wake up."
Sebastian slowly peeled his eyes open.
His gaze was clear and piercingly sharp, looking completely sober.
"Are you drunk?"
Sebastian pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a few seconds to gather himself. "I'm fine."
"Do you need to stay the night here?"
"No." He braced his hands on the table and stood up. "I'll call Mr. Finch." He reached for his phone.
Riley caught his wrist. "Pierce already tried. He's out of town."
"I'll go wash my face. I can get back on my own." Sebastian turned and headed for the bathroom.
