"I am," Sebastian answered.
Riley guided the rim to his lips. He drank slowly, letting her control the tilt of the glass. When he had downed about half, she assumed he was satisfied and began to pull away.
"More."
His voice was a low, raspy rumble, thickened by the alcohol and dripping with rough magnetism.
It was just a single word, but for some reason, the delivery felt intensely charged. It sounded like the demanding plea of a lover begging for more after a breathless night of passion.
Paired with his normally icy, untouchable exterior, the sudden vulnerability was intoxicating. Barely keeping it together, Riley stammered, "O-okay, a little more."
She tilted the glass back toward him. When the water level dropped too low, Sebastian gently wrapped his fingers around her wrist, guiding her hand higher.
The spot where his skin touched hers flared like a match strike, sending a rush of blistering heat straight up her arm.
Once he finished, he immediately let go. His actions remained perfectly restrained and gentlemanly, lacking even a hint of aggression.
"Get some rest." Riley spun on her heel and practically bolted from the room. Mrs. Gable was absolutely right—the man's dominant energy was lethal. It had completely short-circuited her heart rate.
Wanting to maintain strict boundaries with her ex-husband, she decided it was best to keep her distance. She carried Alora back to her own room for the night, leaving Mrs. Gable in charge of handling Pierce.
The next morning.
Freshly dressed, Riley walked out of her bedroom just as Sebastian emerged from the guest bathroom. He looked impeccably crisp. Damp, stray locks clung to his temples, with tiny droplets clinging to the ends of his hair.
Drip.
A bead of water broke free, tracing a slow, agonizing path down his chiseled jawline before pooling at the base of his throat.
It was a devastatingly seductive sight.
A sudden jolt of electricity shot through Riley's chest. Feigning complete indifference, she offered a casual, "Morning."
Sebastian offered a curt nod. "Morning."
