Hearing the frantic shouting, Mrs. Lowell rushed out of the kitchenette. She firmly grasped Madeline, who was trembling uncontrollably. "Madam, don't panic. People have already been sent to look for him. The Master has deployed everyone. They will definitely find the Young Master."
Madeline gripped Mrs. Lowell's hands tightly. "They're looking for him?"
Mrs. Lowell nodded vigorously. "Yes, they are looking for him. There will be news any minute now."
"That's good. That's good." Madeline released Mrs. Lowell's hands, clasped her own together in fervent prayer, and pleaded, "Thank the heavens, please keep my Sebastian safe. I am willing to give up ten years of my life, as long as my Sebastian returns safely."
Mrs. Lowell pulled out her phone, held it to her ear for a few seconds, and then looked at Madeline. "Madam, the Master just called. The Young Master has been found, but he had a bit of a scare and is sleeping now. He said he will come see you tomorrow."
"They really found him?"
"Yes, they found him."
Tears of sheer relief streamed down Madeline's face. "The heavens heard my prayers." She immediately collapsed to her knees, bowing her head in fervent prayer. "Thank you, Lord. I meant what I said. I will gladly give up ten years of my life. Thank you for answering my prayers."
Mrs. Lowell gently helped Madeline back to her feet. "Madam, you're exhausted. Go rest for a while. When you wake up, the Young Master will be here to see you."
Madeline nodded instantly. "Okay." She followed Mrs. Lowell toward her bedroom, still murmuring to herself, "My Sebastian is safe. He's safe."
Even though Winona visited occasionally, this was the first time she had witnessed an episode like this. She stood there, completely stunned.
Watching Mrs. Lowell's practiced actions and perfectly scripted responses, Riley realized this scenario had clearly been played out countless times. This must have been a protocol developed by the rehab center for Mrs. Lowell to pacify Madeline during her meltdowns.
