The Coldest Man in the Room Melted Only for Me novel Chapter 266

When Quinn got home from work, she saw Riley sitting on the rug by the coffee table, staring blankly into space. She didn't even react to the sound of the door. Quinn walked over. "What are you thinking about? You look so spaced out."

Riley jumped, looking up at Quinn standing in front of her. "When did you get back? You didn't make a sound."

"I made plenty of sound; you were just lost in thought." Quinn dropped her folders onto the coffee table, noticing the ointment and cotton swabs. She crossed her legs and sat on the rug, picking up the tube to inspect it. "Is this for you? Are you hurt?"

She carefully examined Riley.

Riley recounted the entire incident of having dinner with Pierce and Beatrice's sudden, dramatic appearance.

Quinn was furious. "Is that old witch crazy? Does she think her son is some priceless treasure? A cheating scumbag who thinks women are lining up for him?"

Riley had been angry at first when falsely accused, but she had calmed down by now. "Don't be mad. I didn't just take it. I slapped her back and threw a glass of wine in her face."

"Thank goodness you never planned on getting back together. If you were her daughter-in-law, who knows how much misery she'd put you through."

Riley smiled and nodded. "Yeah."

"You're laughing, but I'm dying of anger here!"

Riley gently patted Quinn's back. "Calm down. Getting worked up over someone like her isn't worth it."

"Good point." Quinn pressed her hands down, exhaling a long breath. Once she had calmed down, she asked, "Did you put the ointment on?"

"Not yet."

"I'll do it for you." As Quinn applied the ointment to Riley's face, she asked, "I don't have this medicine at home. Did you buy it today?"

"...I didn't buy it."
