Riley zoomed in on the photo and examined it closely. The wound was indeed inflamed and swollen. "The weather is so hot right now. I didn't think it would get infected this quickly."
Sebastian reiterated firmly, "Change the dressing every day."
"Okay." Riley valued her health and had no intention of letting herself fall ill. She genuinely thought they were just minor scrapes and hadn't taken them seriously. Now that she knew it was infected, she had to be careful.
Because the wound was already swollen, the cleaning process felt like needles piercing straight into her heart. The pain was excruciating.
Sensing her body go entirely rigid, Sebastian knew she was hurting. He leaned in closer, gently blowing cool air over the wound as he cleaned and disinfected it.
The soft, cool breath sweeping across her bare back made Riley freeze.
She wasn't a toddler. Why was he blowing on her wound like a mother comforting a child?
She turned her head slightly. In her peripheral vision, she saw him staring at her injury with complete, unwavering focus. His brow was knitted in a deep frown, looking as if he were the one in pain. But she was the one who was hurt!
Was his heart aching for her?
At that thought, Riley's heart completely lost its rhythm. She quickly snapped her gaze back to the front, staring straight ahead.
But the cool breeze against her back served as a constant reminder that this man cared deeply for her.
Her lips curled up into a soft, uncontrollable smile. A warm, honey-sweet feeling bloomed in her chest.
She couldn't help but recall the time she had gone to his house to make him noodles. When she burned her finger on the hot bowl, he had gently blown on it just like this.
Had he already cared for her back then?
When exactly did he start having romantic feelings for her?
Was it after she moved to Statenbury, or before?
