Pierce was virtually certain that Zachary was the man pulling the strings. Otherwise, it would be impossible for him to only communicate with Riverport during those exact two moments. It couldn't just be a coincidence that a friend happened to visit Riverport at those precise times.

He refused to believe the world was full of such convenient coincidences.

Noticing Pierce's face darken with fury, Scott couldn't help but issue a warning. “Mr. Landon, he is the second young master of the Chambers Family. The Chambers are deeply rooted in Statenbury. We... we can't afford to mess with them.”

Murderous intent rolled in Pierce's eyes as he gritted his teeth. “So you're telling me to just stand by and watch him steal my woman?”

“It takes two to tango. I don't think Mrs. Landon would necessarily fall for a playboy like him.”

Pierce's expression turned so dark it practically dripped malice. “Guys like him are experts at manipulating women. Riley is in Statenbury all by herself raising Alora. She's bound to run into difficulties, and he's a board member at her hospital—her ultimate boss. If he starts harassing her, how is she supposed to fend him off?”

Scott admitted Pierce had a point, but... “He's a Chambers. We can't touch him lightly. What can we actually do about him?”

Pierce's brow furrowed tightly, his lips pressing into a thin line. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke. “Just because I can't touch him doesn't mean someone else can't.”

Scott immediately realized what he meant. “Are you thinking of asking Mr. St. John for help?”

Pierce nodded. “No matter how powerful the Chambers Family is, they still have to bow down when facing the St. John Family.”

“But Mr. St. John isn't the type to meddle in other people's business. I doubt he'll step in for something like this.”

“I got here ten days ago. I've been swamped with a project, so I didn't have time to visit you. Now that the project is finalized, I'm calling you.”
