Rebecca was having dinner with the little ones.

She found herself spacing out, her mind replaying the day's events at the Austin Group.

“Mommy, what’s wrong? Is something on your mind?” Aiden, always the perceptive one, looked up and asked, sensing his mother’s distraction.

Rebecca blinked, then forced a smile. “It’s nothing, sweetie. Mommy’s fine. Go on and eat your dinner.”

Ethan paused, a spoonful of rice halfway to his mouth, and shot his brothers a meaningful glance.

His eyes seemed to say: Did Daddy upset Mommy again?

Evan pouted. Why doesn’t Mommy seem happy at all, even after going back to work?

Ethan’s little brow furrowed. Looks like we need to have another talk with our stinky daddy.

Just then, the sound of a car pulling up outside Sunset Villa Estates broke the evening quiet.

Katherine had arrived with Hogan and Jane.

“Dad, Mom, look at this. This is where she’s living now.” Katherine’s voice was laced with jealousy, her eyes practically shooting flames as she stared at the sprawling villa.

Hogan and Jane got out of the car, and they too were stunned silent by the sight of the luxurious mansion.

Jane frowned. “We’ve never lived in a place this nice in our entire lives. It’s far grander than our own Foster estate.”

Katherine clenched her fists in frustration. “If she hadn’t stolen the credit for saving that old man, a place like this would have never been hers.”

Jane was just as angry. “We only kicked her out to teach her a lesson, to let her learn some hardship. Who knew she’d end up living a life of luxury instead?”

Hogan sighed. The issue with the jade pendant had kept him up at night. He’d hit a dead end with the Thomson family and, out of options, had followed Katherine here to find Rebecca.

“Whatever. Let’s go inside first. We might not be able to handle the Thomson family, but surely we can handle one little girl.”

Hogan snorted and led the way toward the villa’s entrance.
