When Cordelia got back home, she found Ronan lounging on the sofa. She quickly stuffed the gift bag into her canvas tote. Even though it wasn't anything fancy, it was a gesture from her.
Ronan got the sentiment. He knew tomorrow was the big reveal, so he wasn't in a rush tonight. Just as Cordelia was about to head upstairs, Ronan stopped her with a "Hold on." "What's up?" Cordelia asked, her eyes wide on him.
"I have a gift for you."
"A gift for me?" Cordelia was puzzled. "Isn't your birthday tomorrow? Why would you give me a gift?"
"Don't you know what today is?" Ronan furrowed his brows slightly.
"Isn't today the day before your birthday?"
"Didn't you and Logan ever celebrate this day?"
Cordelia racked her brain and then remembered that today was Valentine's Day. She thought they were just contractually married, partners rather than lovers. Describing them as "lovers" felt weird and stirred up some fantasies in Cordelia's mind.
Logan was a practical guy. On Valentine's Day, he wouldn't be all talk or gift flowers, but he would reserve a spot for her, buy her breakfast, etc. This lack of ceremony made Valentine's Day forgettable, so Cordelia forgot about it.
"What kind of gift?" Cordelia couldn't contain her excitement. Her eyes were filled with innocence and joy, smiling like a crescent moon.
"I've found you a tutor for financial cost management!"
"Who?" Cordelia was taken aback. Was this a "Valentine's Day" gift?
"Emerson."
Her gift was a Patek Philippe watch worth hundreds of thousands. Ronan just glanced at it and said, "Thanks."
"Oh, I remembered the last time I was here, I saw Janice working hard. I wanted to buy her something, but she seemed to have everything. I really didn't know what to get, so I ended up buying something for her husband. These two belts, are for him." Deanna took out two belts.
They were the same belts as Cordelia's. So, could Cordelia still present her gift? Cordelia realized that Samantha must have deliberately advised Deanna to buy the same belts to embarrass her. Cordelia got a taste of what it meant to be bitten by the snake one had nursed. She meant to help Samantha but got set up instead.
Seeing Cordelia sitting there motionless, Deanna looked triumphant. "What did you get your husband for his birthday, Mrs. Evans?"
"You got a gift?" Ronan asked Cordelia.
"I..."
