The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 302

Cordelia's phone hung up, the beep echoing in her ear for two seconds before it rang again. It was Grant's voice call invitation.

Cordelia remembered that Ronan had planned to meet with Grant today, and she hastily accepted Grant's voice call.

"Cordelia? Mrs. Evans? It's about Mr. Evans, your husband. He’s at the entrance of Bistro Belle. My ex-wife... she stabbed him. She meant to stab me, but Mr. Evans, he took the hit for me. I’m taking him to the hospital now. I’ll send you the location as soon as I get there," Grant hurriedly said. "I'll take care of him for now."

"Is it seri..." Cordelia wanted to ask how serious it was, but she was too shocked to speak. She sat there, shell-shocked, feeling as if she had been hollowed out.

Stabbed. She knew what it meant. A blade entering the body, the outcome was always the same. She knew it. Cordelia sat still in her chair, dumbstruck.

"Cordelia? You okay?" Milana, her colleague, asked.

Cordelia didn’t respond.

"Cordelia, Cordelia? Are you feeling unwell?"

Still no response from Cordelia. She felt a sharp pang in her stomach. Her phone vibrated. It was the hospital's location sent by Grant.

"I... I need to..." Cordelia stuttered, as if she had been drinking.

She stood up from her chair, but then tumbled back, sliding down to the floor. Thankfully, the chair behind her prevented a serious fall.

"Cordelia, what’s wrong?" Milana rushed over to help Cordelia up.

She took Cordelia's phone and saw the hospital location sent by Grant. "You need to go here? Who’s in the hospital? Let's go. I'll go with you."

Milana helped the staggering Cordelia into the elevator.

Cordelia's hands were shaking as she looked for Tristi's contact and handed her phone to Milana.

"I don’t know. We’ll find out once we get to the hospital. Let's go." Milana said.

Tristi didn’t say anything else and quickly started the car.

Tristi was known for her slow and steady driving. Unfortunately, there was a traffic jam due to an accident. Cordelia was anxious and looked outside. On the roadside, there was a large maternity store called Happy Kids.

Seeing the store, Cordelia’s thoughts began to wander. Even though she was pregnant, she had never been to a maternity store, let alone with him.

Cordelia had never thought Tristi’s driving was slow until now. As she watched the immovable traffic, she felt the fear of losing a loved one. Her father, mother, Barney, she had watched them all leave one by one. The pain didn’t lessen, it only grew.

She sent a message to Grant through Messenger with trembling hands: [Mr. Grant, please, tell Ronan that the twins are his, and he is the father of my babies.]

She was afraid if she didn’t say it now, she might never get the chance.
