The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 319

"Who sent this?" Cordelia heard Ronan's voice from the living room.

"It's from Adrian, and Mr. Evans..." Cordelia couldn't hear the rest of what was said. Perhaps Janice was informing Ronan about what Adrian had told her.

Soon enough, Ronan sauntered into the room. He hung his suit jacket on the wall. Coming over to Cordelia, he casually tilted her chin upwards. "Are you upset?"

Cordelia's head turned to the side. "I'm about to."

Hearing that, Ronan couldn't help but tease her, "About to what? Squeeze out a baby?”

Cordelia's glare was full of disdain. "Do you find that amusing?"

"Did Adrian tell you everything?"

"Yes, and I checked with Brooklyn. It’s really the case. Good for you, the best ex-boyfriend in the world," Cordelia retorted. "Why did you make me change your contact name then?"

"The police told me, the incident with your grandma, it wasn't Deanna's doing."

"Of course, you would find an excuse to help her. Samantha herself said it was Deanna! And it is a fact that Deanna slapped Samantha on set!" Cordelia was furious, thinking that Deanna's charms had blinded Ronan.

"It wasn't her."

With a swift motion, Cordelia grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, her eyes welling up with tears.

Ronan sidestepped, and the pillow hit the wall instead. "Someone's got a temper!" Ronan glanced at the pillow.

"I don't have any right to ask you to seek revenge for me. You can help her, but why did you hide it from me?" Cordelia furrowed her brows. "Couldn't you have told me? Misunderstandings cause even more anger! You kept me from work, didn't let Brooklyn tell me, and blocked Deanna's Facebook on my account? I'm not a puppet, I can think for myself."

Cordelia stopped talking then, but her tears wouldn't stop flowing.

Ronan moved to the side to make a call. "Hello, Thomas? Tell your wife to listen." Ronan spoke with an air of authority.

"The babies are mine, and they have nothing to do with Jamie. Cordelia and Jamie haven’t been together.

"If you have questions, ask your good-for-nothing son.

"The clothes you sent today, I threw them out. Don't come to our place again," Ronan stated without any courtesy.

Upon hearing this, Cordelia sat upright on the bed, and her mouth was only able to utter a single word. "You..." The rest of her words were stuck in her throat.

She was fuming.
