The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 459

A child's voice answered the knock on the door.

"Who's there?" He asked.

"It's me, I brought you something," Cordelia replied, wondering why only Callum was at home.

"Hold on."

Concerned about Callum, Cordelia nervously waited outside the door.

Callum scurried to the bathroom door and knocked. "Dad, big sister's here. Are you done yet?"

Ronan, in the midst of showering, froze. “She's here?”

"Just a moment, I'll be right there."

"Dad, you gotta turn on the charm," Callum said.

After exiting the bathroom, Ronan told Callum, "Go to bed."

Callum made an OK sign with his hand. "I know you're trying to woo her. You have to do it before Harold does. I believe in you! Go for it!"

"Cheeky boy."

In no time, Ronan was at the door, opening it for Cordelia.

Standing before Cordelia was a dashing figure, clad only in a towel around his waist, looking incredibly handsome and enticing.

"Come in," Ronan said, towel-drying his hair.

"Where's Callum? He answered the door just now," Cordelia looked around for Callum. She was disappointed when she couldn't find him.

"He's asleep. I was showering and didn't hear the door."

Cordelia placed the toy car she brought for Callum on the table, not daring to look directly at Ronan. "This is from Brooklyn for Callum. I just brought it over."

"Why deliver it at night?" Ronan asked casually.

"I didn't think of it that way! I never thought I'd have such a scandal upon my arrival," Cordelia replied sternly. Her serious demeanor was indeed more charismatic than it was three years ago.

"A young, handsome basketball player with great bedroom skills. Don't you like that?" He asked, teasing Cordelia.

Cordelia turned away. "I'm not as bored and sexually frustrated as you!"

In fact, she was also implying the incident of him getting Tabitha pregnant.

"I don't have anyone to vent on," he said.

As she spoke, her chest rose and fell. Ronan's thoughts wavered momentarily, unable to resist. To cover up, he stood and suddenly lifted Cordelia's chin. "You hate me, don't you?" he asked, squinting at Cordelia.

"There's more than one reason for me to hate you!" Cordelia thought of the grave she had just visited. In fact, since her mother's death, their relationship had never been the same.

Ronan guessed that she probably knew about Tabitha's pregnancy and that Tabitha's rumor was aimed at Cordelia, which was why Cordelia had been away for three years. He didn't want to bring it up now. There would be someone to handle it for him.

Ronan's Messenger kept beeping, he guessed it could be his assistant or Deanna, but he ignored them all.
