The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 615

No sooner had they stepped into the bedroom than Ronan pinned Cordelia against the wall and kissed her fiercely.

"Being so hard on your man?" he whispered in her ear.

"You started it!" Cordelia shot back.

"So it's my fault. What do you want me to do about it?" His eyes locked onto hers with an intense, almost predatory gaze, heavy with testosterone.

That look sent a jolt right through Cordelia's heart, making it race like a drum.

In no time, Ronan had swept Cordelia off her feet and onto the bed.

Afterwards, leaning against the headboard, Ronan asked, "Still mad at me?"

Cordelia turned her back to him, silent.

"So, that's a yes. You know, they say, 'lovers' quarrels are soon mended.' How come it doesn't work with you? Or do you want another round?" he teased.

"No more, I'm not mad," Cordelia replied, her heartbeat still rapid. "Oh, by the way, I've got a class reunion tomorrow night. I won't be home for dinner and will be back late."

"Any of those classmates harbor a secret crush on you?" Ronan prodded.

Cordelia closed her eyes, done with the conversation. "Sleeping."

The next day, Cordelia sat at the vanity, meticulously applying her makeup.

Ronan watched her from the mirror, and she caught his reflection.

"All dolled up, who's the lucky viewer?" he asked.

"You really know how to work up the jealousy, don't you?" Cordelia remarked.

"Guilty as charged. I'm marinating in it. By tonight, the whole house will reek of vinegar," Ronan said, a playful smirk on his lips.

"Do you need to chain me to your belt before you feel secure?" Cordelia asked, brushing her hair.

But nothing worked; the key was a fake, and so was the password.

Samantha was livid, thinking: Cordelia really isn't playing straight.

Adrian wasn't as disappointed as Samantha. Even without the money, at least he got to see Switzerland, gaining some worldly experience.

Samantha called Alana.

"Ms. Alana, Cordelia fooled us. The password she gave is bogus," Samantha fumed.

"Bogus? Cordelia..." Alana was equally livid, having hoped to coax out the real password this time. "That wretch had the nerve to play us like this," she seethed. "Take her child. Let's see if that scares her."

"Will do," Samantha agreed.

After all, she was Callum Evans's auntie. Even if she took Callum, it would just be a relative taking the child, and the police wouldn't hold her accountable!

Samantha and Adrian returned stateside. Adrian worried that kidnapping Callum might backfire, while Samantha decided to hire some goons for the job. She and Adrian would play the heroes. This would leave a better impression on Cordelia, who might then be more inclined to divulge the password.
