The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 625

Harold was burning up, feeling like he was on fire, and his clothes felt like they were strangling him.

He yanked off his shirt.

"What's up with you?" Victoria asked, sipping her water casually, acting like she had no clue, all cool and collected.

Harold couldn't resist the drug's effects any longer. He lunged at Victoria, kissing her hungrily.

Victoria pushed weakly, "Stop it, please. How am I supposed to face anyone after this? Please..."

Her half-hearted protests only fueled Harold’s desire.

In a rush of passion, he lifted Victoria onto the bed. Their encounter was fierce and intense, leaving Victoria struggling to cope with the pain.

Afterwards, she lay with her back to Harold, falling into a peaceful sleep.

By the time it was over, it was past seven in the evening. There was no way Harold could return to camp like this. If the drill sergeant saw him, there'd be hell to pay.

He was furious with Victoria for slipping him that drug, for messing with his head.

Harold turned to her, gripping her chin tightly, demanding, "Why would you do this to me?"

"Why? Because I like you," Victoria retorted, her eyes wide, seductive, a mix of triumph and infatuation shimmering in them.

Harold was speechless. She liked him, but he didn’t feel the same way. It seemed she felt she had no other choice but to resort to such measures.

Victoria rolled onto her side, poking Harold's chest, "From now on, you're mine. You want to see other women, you’ll need my permission first."

Harold clenched his teeth. Victoria had been like a goddess to him, dignified and untouchable—helping out with his mom's surgery, bringing him pork ribs and chicken soup, and buying him that hoodie—until this scandalous event turned everything on its head.

Although he had never known exactly what she looked like until their encounter at Cordelia's, he had never imagined that she could be this seductive, this shameless, stirring a mix of anger and longing within him.

What kind of karma was this?

"Does Cordelia know about this?" he asked, his tone softening.

Victoria brushed his shoulder, coaxing him to face her, but Harold clung to a final shred of defiance, refusing to meet her gaze.

"Are you scared she'll find out?" Victoria seemed to find his concern amusing. "She's got a man and a kid now. Do you think she even knows how much you think about her?"

Harold pressed his lips together tightly, feeling humiliated by Victoria's words.
