The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 633

Actually, bringing a gift for Callum was just a pretext; next week, Daniella could find another excuse to drop by and see Janice again.

Daniella thought to herself, with her good looks and knack for helping out around the house, if she could just charm Janice's employers, her future would be set. Mr. Evans was the wealthiest man in Millstone, and his word carried a lot of weight. If he and his wife didn’t approve of her, all of Daniella’s efforts would be for nothing.

Winning over the couple meant winning over their kid, and that was a solid plan.

Victoria was in Janice's room, giving her a thorough check-up.

Earlier, she had told Daniella that she was there to examine Janice, without mentioning her own relationship with Harold.

Although Victoria specialized in gynecology, she had also trained in general health care, so giving a check-up to an acquaintance was no big deal.

“What do you think about Miss Liu? She’s quite attractive,” Janice asked, treating Victoria like a close friend.

“She’s pretty, alright,” Victoria acknowledged sincerely. “Those upturned eyes, they’re like cat eyes, very seductive. Guys just can’t resist.”

Janice’s smile instantly froze.

Seductive eyes, guys can’t resist…

What mother-in-law would want a daughter-in-law like that?

“And Miss Liu is quite skilled at domestic work. Janice, you’re lucky; no need to worry about buying a house for your son,” Victoria added. “Buying a house can really drain a parent’s finances.”

Janice’s expression darkened even more. Not needing to buy a house implied that Harold would be the one moving in with her, becoming the son-in-law who lived at his wife’s place? That was not how things were done in Janice’s book. Harold was their only son, and becoming someone else’s son-in-law would be a loss of face for them.

These two points were almost deal-breakers for Janice.

Victoria continued the examination with her medical kit.

“Mr. Evans is my mentor; I work under him.”

Daniella nodded, thinking to herself that if Emerson spilled the beans about the incident before she could explain herself, she could kiss her standing with the Evans goodbye. So, she put on a charming smile and said to Emerson, “Uncle, I was in the wrong that day, I admit it.”

“Learned to apologize, have you?”

“Yeah,” Daniella thought. She’d play nice with this old man for now and deal with any problems later.

Emerson noticed that Daniella seemed even more stunning than before, her face radiant and her posture more confident. She had the kind of allure that could hook any man, and he found himself unexpectedly aroused.

He had never felt what his mentor described, but now he wanted to experience it for himself.

“Did your boyfriend like the underwear you gave him?” Emerson asked her, a twinkle in his eye.
