The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 640

When Emerson arrived at the Evans household, Cordelia was deep in conversation with Ronan on the couch.

Ever since Alana had been put behind bars, Cordelia had been carrying a heavy burden, wrestling with the desire to find her estranged father. She was torn—longing to see him yet harboring resentment for his affair with Alana. But how to track down her dad was a mystery that left her clueless.

Emerson walked in.

"A drone for Callum from Daniella." He glanced around the house, but unfortunately, Callum was nowhere to be seen.

"Callum and Janice stepped out," Ronan informed him, taking the drone from Emerson's grasp and inspecting it from every angle. "Not too shabby, huh? Top-notch quality, solid tech, equipped with the latest flight system, and what's more, it's safe. Daniella, she's got skills," Ronan couldn't help but praise her.

Cordelia took a closer look too. The technical jargon went over her head, but she could tell it felt sturdy in her hands. "Looks like Daniella's the real deal; she must've put in some serious elbow grease."

"I reckon these are usually made for adults, commercial use and stuff. This one, she must've made specially," Emerson added nonchalantly.

Ronan gave Emerson a knowing look. "Hmm, already singing her praises, huh? Got a little crush going on?"

Emerson twitched slightly. "No way!"

Then something clicked for Ronan. "This drone, she sent it through you for me?"

"Yep."

Ronan chuckled with a glint of understanding. "Guess she wants me to sing her praises in front of Janice."

"I'm aware, but I'm playing dumb."

Ronan laughed again. "Can't wait to see how you'll explain this one to her."

Cordelia, for her part, was hoping Emerson would sweep Daniella off her feet. It would clear the path for Victoria, eliminating a formidable rival from the equation.

Handling the drone and fiddling with the controller, Callum asked, "Is this from Auntie Liu from last time? Where is she?"

Ronan glanced at Janice, still standing by the door. "She didn't come. Emerson brought it for you on her behalf."

Callum, oblivious to the adults' complexities, simply went "Oh."

Janice thought to herself: My hunch about Harold was right—Daniella's already sending things through Emerson.

Emerson caught Janice's eye.

Cordelia shot Ronan a meaningful look before turning away.

On his way home, Emerson received a message from Daniella on Messenger: "Did you deliver the drone to Callum?"
