Daniella had always been the apple of her parents' eye, the only child blessed with a silver spoon in her mouth. Though she was sharp as a tack, her heart was pure and untainted by cynicism. She had this way of looking at the world through rose-colored glasses, always assuming the best in people.
"Why's that?" Daniella tilted her head up, her eyes wide with innocence as she looked at Ronan.
"You've bought yourself a home. That calls for a celebration. You'll join Emerson and me tomorrow. I'll drop Emerson a line in a bit."
"Okay." The thought of going over to Ronan's place for dinner excited Daniella. She was always up for a good time.
At the ninth floor, Ronan and Daniella went their separate ways.
Daniella made her way to Emerson's office, gave the door a polite knock, and upon hearing "Come in," she entered, finding Emerson buried in work at his desk.
He hadn't noticed who had come in, as the receptionist had only mentioned that someone from downstairs was looking for the vice president.
There was something about Emerson focused so intently on his work that caught Daniella off guard. For a fleeting moment, her heart skipped a beat.
Emerson looked up and saw Daniella.
"What brings you here?" Emerson stood up and poured Daniella a glass of water.
"My dad's looking to buy some property, and he asked me to bring the paperwork to you."
"He's made up his mind?"
"Yeah, two properties."
"Alright, I'll get someone from the Sales Department to help you with the paperwork." After saying this, Emerson called the Sales Department.
Once the call ended, Emerson received a message from Ronan: [Harold's coming over to see his mom tomorrow since he's close to Millstone. I've asked Victoria to come too; you and Daniella should join. During dinner, I'll steer the conversation towards Victoria and Harold. Hopefully, that'll get Daniella to stop fussing over him.]
[Got it.]
Before long, Emerson and Daniella joined the gathering, making it an even livelier party of six.
"Mr. Evans, my dad wanted me to thank you for the generous discount you gave us," Daniella chimed in.
"Don't mention it. Let's sit down to eat," Ronan suggested.
As they were dining, Callum and Jayson came back from their outdoor adventures, with Jayson plopping down on the couch.
Seeing Harold, Callum was over the moon; he had tons to talk about, calling Harold 'big brother' this and 'big brother' that. Harold was just as fond of Callum, and the two hit it off splendidly.
Harold's cap was casually lying on the couch, which caught Jayson's attention. The emblem on it was particularly striking and cool. In a moment of mischief, while the adults were distracted, Jayson's little fingers deftly removed the emblem and slipped it into his pocket before joining the others at the table as if nothing had happened.
Callum had been washing his hands and missed the entire scene, but it wasn't long before both boys were seated at the table.
The conversation flowed as lively as ever.
