The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 680

"Oh?" Ronan said with a playful smirk, glancing at Emerson. "Didn't expect someone to be on my wavelength."

Emerson had a gut feeling that his brother had sent him here on purpose. But he was still clueless about what game Ronan was playing.

As they stepped into the principal's office, the person seated there stood up.

Emerson was startled—it was Daniella.

Cordelia was just as surprised.

Only Ronan seemed completely unfazed.

Emerson shot Ronan a questioning look, the unspoken words clear in his eyes: Did you invite her?

But Ronan’s eyes were a masterclass in unreadable expressions, giving nothing away.

Daniella, just as shocked to see Emerson with Ronan and Cordelia, blurted out, "What brings you guys here?"

"Just here to make a modest contribution to the school," Ronan said casually, taking a seat across from the principal's desk, with Emerson following suit.

Seeing Daniella again made Emerson feel awkward, like two people who had been through a rough breakup meeting again unexpectedly.

Daniella held a check in her hand. Ronan didn't need to look to know she was a regular donor to the school, always giving a hundred thousand. It had been her routine since college. Compared to the five million Ronan was donating this time, it seemed small, but it was a heartfelt gesture.

Daniella avoided meeting Emerson's eyes, still stinging from his previous rejection.

"You're here to donate too?" Emerson asked.

Emerson shared her sentiment, but he had always known his brother had a sharp eye for detail. Ostensibly, he was there to play matchmaker, but in reality, his intentions were clear. Perhaps he was deliberately showing Emerson what kind of person Daniella was. If someone with her character wasn’t deserving of the contract, then who would be?

Ronan signed the five-million-dollar donation contract.

After the paperwork was settled, the four of them left the school.

Since their awkward farewell at Cai's Diner, Daniella had felt a mix of anger and embarrassment for confessing her feelings to no avail. She had thought her company's chances were slim, but today seemed to bring a new opportunity.

Seeing Mr. Evans making a donation too, she felt a twist of hope and instinctively grabbed Emerson's sleeve. "Mr. Emerson, did I win the bid or not?"

Emerson glanced at Ronan.

It seemed Ronan was set on awarding the contract to Daniella.
