The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan) novel Chapter 70

Once Cordelia got back to her dorm, she went straight to tidying up her books.

As soon as the idea of switching jobs popped into her head, she got cracking on her resignation letter.

In her room, Brooklyn mustered up the courage to message Ronan.

But the problem was, she didn't have Ronan's contact info...

She was just a regular employee. Without Cordelia's connection, Ronan might not have known her at all. Nervously, Brooklyn found and added Ronan's contact from the company group chat.

Brooklyn started drafting the message, then read it over several times, making sure there were no typos. She didn't want her direct boss to catch her being careless.

Ronan saw her message.

He found out that Deanna was the one making trouble. Cordelia wasn't pregnant, so there was no miscarriage.

Ronan's anger subsided. He was a bit disappointed, but it was all a misunderstanding after all.

Brooklyn told Cordelia about it.

Though Cordelia said, "Mind your own business," she wasn't that pissed. Misunderstandings needed to be cleared up after all.

She was still miffed that Ronan only listened to Deanna though.

Ronan shot Cordelia a message: Come home.

But the message didn't go through. Cordelia had blocked him.

This was the first time Ronan had ever been blocked.

He chuckled helplessly.

She's so bold, so temperamental. He tried to call her several times and each time got the same automated message: The number you dialed is currently busy.

He had no idea what other "surprises" Cordelia had in store for him.

Since she was still mad, he decided to wait until Monday to talk.

However, Monday morning, Jordan handed Ronan a resignation letter. It was from Cordelia.

Cordelia's resignation letter was quite conservative. She thanked her colleagues for their care and help, but she hoped to leave the company within two to four weeks. That way, the company could find someone to replace her.

"Mr. Evans, Cordelia has always performed well in the Finance Department and has a great relationship with her colleagues. I don't know why she..." Jordan hesitated.

Now, in Cordelia's bag were two books, one was The CPA Success Blueprint that Jamie had signed the other day, and the other was a financial cost management textbook she bought from the bookstore. In addition, she wanted to bring these notes and make use of her spare time, like lunch breaks and meal times.

Just as she was about to start work, the internal phone on Cordelia's desk rang again.

"Come home tonight to visit Barney."

It was Ronan, a one-line command.

Cordelia hummed in response. No matter how much she and Ronan disagreed, she never shirked when it came to Barney.

"But my afternoon might be unpredictable," Cordelia hinted that she didn't want to go home with Ronan.

Ronan got it, he was silent for a moment, "Go by yourself."

In the afternoon, Jordan asked Cordelia to deliver documents to the tax department. He said that after delivering the documents, she didn't need to return to the company, which meant Cordelia was off work at four. When she left the tax bureau, Cordelia got on the bus back to Pearl Palms. There was no traffic at this time, and she could get home quickly.

Barney was very happy to see Cordelia. He didn't mention the baby at all.

Barney wanted to eat pasta, and Cordelia went to the kitchen to cook for him.

While they were sitting on the sofa discussing whether the pasta tasted good and chatting, Ronan came home.
