The Day I Walked Away My Empire Began novel Chapter 274

The three of them just sat there, totally stunned. For a long moment, no one knew what to say.

Hadn’t they already been Lucie’s bridesmaids once? Her wedding to Steven had been this over-the-top, fairy-tale event. It was the talk of New Amberton. Everyone had been jealous.

And now—was she really about to jump from one billionaire family to an even more powerful one?

Lucie rolled her eyes. “Come on, don’t listen to him. He’s just making stuff up.”

Her friends blinked, still trying to catch up. “Uh, right, sit down, sit down.”

“Mr. Pitts, want this seat?”

“Anywhere’s fine, as long as I’m next to Lucie.” Elio plopped down right beside her, radiating this casual, untouchable energy.

They’d seen him once before at a club. Back then, all three of them had joked about getting to know him. Who’d have thought Lucie would be the one to actually land him?

“Wow, what a surprise to meet you. Cheers!” Mira said, pouring wine for Elio and Lucie.

“Cheers,” they echoed.

Yolanda looked at Lucie, eyes sparkling. “So… are you and Elio really together?”

“He’s just messing around,” Lucie said quickly. “Don’t take him seriously.”

Elio grinned. “I’m definitely not joking.”

Lucie shot him a glare. He only leaned in closer, voice low and teasing. “Baby, why are you giving me that look?”

The girls could only stare. Was this seriously that mysterious, legendary Elio Pitts?

Lucie’s patience was wearing thin. “If you keep talking nonsense, I’m actually going to get mad.”

“Okay, okay, I surrender. Sorry, babe.”

Lucie felt herself shrink in her seat. Why had she brought him here? She’d just wanted a quiet late-night snack with her friends, not all this drama.

Angela couldn’t help but sigh, “Wow, you two are sweet.”

“So this is official now, huh?” Mira teased. “We have to take notes—Lucie’s about to get married again, and we’re all still single.”

Before anyone could react, Elio dropped to one knee and somehow, like magic, pulled out a single red rose. In the center of the bloom was a massive, sparkling pink diamond ring.

Lucie’s jaw dropped. She just stared, totally speechless.

At that moment, confetti burst from every corner, filling the air with color and bits of flower petals. Musicians in tuxedos came forward, playing violins. A waitress wheeled out a cart stacked with 999 huge red roses.

The big screen flickered on, showing picture after picture of Lucie from her days in France. In bold letters, it read: Lucie, I love you. Marry me.

The whole place erupted—guests, staff, everyone started clapping and chanting, “Say yes! Say yes!”

Lucie felt her mind go blank. She hadn’t been ready for any of this. How had Elio managed to turn the place into a proposal scene so fast?

Then the DJ’s voice boomed, “Tonight, everything’s on Mr. Pitts!”

The bar exploded with cheers.

“Let’s all help Elio win the heart of his one and only! Beautiful Lucie, say yes to Elio’s proposal!”

“Marry him! Marry him!”
