"Teacher Hu, how can you say something like that?"
Hu Xiuqiao hadn’t bothered to lower her voice. There was still another male teacher in the classroom who hadn’t left—the same one who had previously passed a message from Leng Yuan to Gu Jiaojiao. His name was Zhao Zhengfei.
He chided Hu Xiuqiao before turning to Gu Jiaojiao, his tone gentle.
"Teacher Gu, don’t worry. Making desks and chairs for the school is everyone’s responsibility. We may not be carpenters, but we’ll help out too."
He was genuinely afraid that Gu Jiaojiao would go and persuade Leng Yuan not to do it.
From his interactions with them recently, Zhao Zhengfei could see that Leng Yuan absolutely doted on his wife.
If Gu Jiaojiao just said the word, Leng Yuan might actually refuse to help.
But the school’s desks and chairs were nearly all broken. The principal had submitted a request almost half a year ago, but the higher-ups kept rejecting it.
He’d heard that this time, the principal was preparing to pay for it out of his own pocket.
To be honest, ever since the principal took office, his meager salary had probably all been spent on the school. His wife had already argued with him about it several times.
If the principal had to subsidize the school again, his family might just fall apart.
That was why he was so worried Gu Jiaojiao would stop Leng Yuan.
Hu Xiuqiao couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
"This has nothing to do with Mr. Leng in the first place. What’s wrong with refusing? Besides, this is a matter for the higher-ups. If you’re so capable, why don’t you go find them and get them to approve it!"
"Teacher Gu, don’t you agree?"
Hu Xiuqiao looked at Gu Jiaojiao.
She felt that as Leng Yuan’s wife, Gu Jiaojiao ought to feel for him and refuse this task.
Gu Jiaojiao didn’t say much of anything. She answered neither Hu Xiuqiao nor Zhao Zhengfei, simply gathering her things and walking out of the classroom.
