When Marcus reached the Ward. He put on a slow walk in. As he could feel that something was highly

wrong.

As he stepped inside the ward, Marcus found Natalie crying so seriously, her shoulders shaking as she touched Mr. Langstone’s still form on the bed.

The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood and the acrid tang of smoke from the hallway.

Marcus entered slowly, his heart pounding. Some of the surviving guards who were present dropped to their knees, their faces etched with shame and terror. “We deserved to die, Master!” they screamed in unison. “We couldn’t stop them!”

That was when Marcus saw his father lay motionless, eyes closed forever, a single clean wound on his neck marking the end of a powerful life.

The monitors were silent, their lines flat.

“No. No, father. No!!!!” He cried out loud, the raw agony tearing from his throat as he rushed forward and collapsed beside the bed.

Natalie threw herself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably. Marcus held her tight.
