Chapter 123
Sancho snapped out of his trance, the greedy gleam in his eyes fading as the reality of the bet crashed back into his
mind.
He took a shaky step backward, his face paling as Marcus advanced towards him.
“Wait, chill!” Sancho blurted out, raising both hands in a placating gesture. His voice cracked slightly, “Look, I know you are right and you won. This isn’t the time for this betting thing. You know what? Let me buy this Ruby stone from you. I will buy it for 400 million dollars-that’s over 100 million above the market price!”
He forced a wide grin, his eyes darting nervously between Marcus and the pouch. In his mind, no ordinary man had ever seen such a sum in their lifetime.
Surely this novice would fold, grab the money, and disappear.
Sapphire stood frozen behind the counter, her hands still trembling from the cut, eyes wide with disbelief at the unfolding drama. She had seen deals go south before, but nothing like this.
Marcus, however, remained unmoved.
“Well, I’m not interested in selling,” Marcus replied coolly, his voice steady as steel. “I just want your finger as we bet.”
Sancho’s grin faltered, twisting into a scoff. “You’re doing a big mistake here, you know that? Let me make it 500 million dollars. Do you even know how huge that is? You will have more money than you could ever dream of- enough to compete with me for Julia. This is a life-changing dream, boy!”
Marcus chuckled softly, a low sound that echoed with quiet amusement rather than anger. “With money or without it, I will have Julia. She isn’t a materialistic person, and she will certainly be mine. So that isn’t an option.”
He paused, locking eyes with Sancho. “I am not interested in selling. I want your finger.”
The words landed like a slap. Sancho’s face flushed with annoyance, his earlier bravado cracking under the pressure. He snapped, jabbing a finger toward Marcus. “Ohh, you must be stupid if you think I will really give you my finger to cut! Do you even use your common sense? Listen, I will give you one chance. Give me the stone. I will pay you, and you walk away. Or you prove stubborn, and I will have my men here beat you to pulp. And even take the stone without paying.”
The bodyguards shifted, their hands hovering near their concealed weapons.
Sapphire gasped. “Please, everyone, this has gone far enough-”
But Marcus simply chuckled again, the sound low and confident. “Then bring it on. I will do anything to have your finger.”
Sancho’s patience shattered. “Beat him and get me his finger!” he roared, spittle flying from his mouth. “I will make sure you regret this decision!”
The three bodyguards sprang into action, their movements practiced from years of intimidation. In a blur, they drew their guns-sleek black pistols glinting under the store’s lights.
The first one, a burly man with a scar across his cheek, raised his weapon and aimed directly at Marcus’s chest.
The second and third flanked him, their barrels trained with deadly intent, ready to fill the room with gunfire at a
moment’s notice.

Time seemed to slow. Marcus moved faster than anyone could anticipate. With lightning reflexes honed from unseen training, he sidestepped the first guard’s aim in a fluid motion, closing the distance in a single heartbeat.
His hand shot out like a viper, grabbing the man’s wrist and twisting it with brutal precision. A sickening crack echoed as the bone snapped. The guard howled in agony, his gun clattering to the floor.
Marcus snatched it mid-fall, spinning it in his grip before using the butt of the weapon to deliver a crushing blow to the second guard’s temple. The mati crumpled like a ragdoll, unconscious before he hit the ground.
The third bodyguard fired a wild shot, the bullet shattering a display case behind Marcus in a spray of glass and sparkling fragments.
. But Marcus was already in motion again. He ducked low, sweeping the man’s legs out from under him with a powerful kick, then drove an elbow into his solar plexus as he fell.
The gun flew from the guard’s hand, and Marcus caught it effortlessly, using it to pistol-whip the first guard again for good measure, ensuring all three lay groaning or still on the floor.
The entire confrontation lasted mere seconds.
Sancho stood rooted in place, his jaw slack, eyes bulging in shock. He kept staring, his body shaking uncontrollably as the reality of his men’s swift defeat sank in.
Sweat beaded on his forehead, and for the first time, genuine fear flickered across his face. “H-how… what are you? how are you able to beat three armed men!” he stammered, backing up until he bumped into a display shelf.
Marcus stepped over the fallen bodyguards, and moved closer to sancho, who was still trembling.
In one smooth motion, he grabbed Sancho’s right hand, yanking it forward and slamming it flat onto the counter table with unyielding force.
