Chapter 134
Betty’s face instantly turned pale.
Her fingers tightened around her phone until her knuckles turned white.
She had only wanted to stop innocent people from being beaten, but now nearly twenty armed men had surrounded the two of them from every direction. Every one of those men carried a thick wooden stick, and several of them were much larger than Marcus.
Her heartbeat pounded wildly inside her chest.
“Marcus…” she called nervously, unconsciously grabbing the sleeve of his shirt. “T-There are too many of them.”
Before she could say another word, Marcus calmly took a step forward.
Without saying anything, he gently stretched out one arm, guiding Betty behind him.
The simple movement immediately made Betty freeze.
Standing behind Marcus’ broad back, she suddenly felt strangely safe despite the overwhelming danger surrounding them.
Marcus slowly exhaled. His eyes narrowed as his breathing became calm. Then…His bracelet activated.
A faint warmth spread through his entire body.
The leader sneered. “So you’ve chosen to be a hero.”
He waved his hand. “Beat him!”
The twenty men charged at once.
They rushed forward from every direction, swinging their sticks toward Marcus’ head, shoulders, legs and back. Marcus moved.
Whoosh!
He sidestepped the first stick with unbelievable precision before driving his fist into the attacker’s stomach. Bang!. The masked man doubled over, gasping for air before collapsing onto the ground.
Marcus didn’t even stop moving. He spun to his left.
Another stick came crashing toward his shoulder.
He caught the attacker’s wrist in midair, twisted it sharply and forced the man to lose his grip.
The wooden stick flew into the air.
Marcus caught it effortlessly.
Crack!
He struck another thug across the ribs.
Bang!
A backhand swing knocked another man’s legs out from under him.

The crowd watching nearby could only stare with mouths hanging open.
“What…”
“What is happening?”
Marcus moved like flowing water.
Every attack against him missed by only inches.
Every punch he threw landed perfectly.
One thug lunged at him from behind.
Without even turning around, Marcus drove his elbow backward.
The man’s nose exploded with blood before he crashed onto the pavement.
Three more rushed him together.
Marcus ducked beneath the first swing, kicked the second man squarely in the chest and used the wooden stick to block the third attack before smashing it across the attacker’s shoulder. Then he charged at the rest.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
One body after another flew backward.
Some rolled across the road. Others crashed into walls.
Within moments the once arrogant group had become a chaotic pile of groaning men.
One minute hadn’t even passed. Marcus stood calmly in the middle of the road.
Around him…Twenty masked men lay scattered across the pavement, clutching broken arms, bruised ribs and swollen faces as they cried out in pain.
The leader eyes were so wide they looked ready to pop out of their sockets. The wooden stick slipped from his trembling hand and landed on the ground with a dull thud.
“N-No…This… this isn’t possible…”
Marcus slowly walked toward him. Each step echoed across the silent street.
The leader’s breathing became increasingly frantic.
“W-Wait…”
He hurriedly raised both hands.
“Please don’t-”
Before he could finish his sentence…
The loud blare of police sirens echoed through the neighborhood.
Woo…Woo…Woo…

Several police vehicles sped into the street before stopping only a few meters away.
The leader looked toward them as though he had just seen his saviors.
Without another thought, he turned around and sprinted toward the officers.
“I surrender!”
“I surrender!”
His terrified voice stunned every policeman present.
The officers had expected to find violent criminals resisting arrest.
Instead…They found the gang leader voluntarily running toward them with both hands raised.
As the officers stepped out of their vehicles, they froze.
The entire street was filled with masked men lying on the ground, groaning in pain.
The police officers instinctively looked around, trying to understand what had happened.
One elderly resident suddenly pointed toward Marcus.
“It was him!”
Another young man immediately nodded excitedly.
“Officer, he defeated all of them by himself!”
“What?”

Several officers looked at Marcus in disbelief.
An elderly man shook his head repeatedly.
“You wouldn’t believe it if you hadn’t seen it with your own eyes. he beat over twenty men…in less than a minute.”
Everyone stared at Marcus with admiration shining in their eyes.
Just then, an elderly woman slowly stepped forward.
Her eyes were filled with gratitude.
“Our hero…”
She looked at Marcus as tears welled up in her eyes.
“Our hero has come to save us.”
She suddenly raised her walking stick into the air.
“All hail our hero!”
Almost instantly the surrounding residents echoed her words.
“Hero!”

“Our Hero!”
“Our Hero!”
The cheers spread throughout the neighborhood.
Marcus simply scratched the side of his face before letting out a helpless scoff.
Meanwhile, the police quickly separated the injured residents from the masked men before beginning their investigation.
After listening to dozens of eyewitnesses, they were left completely speechless.
Even the officers couldn’t believe a single person had brought down an entire group of armed thugs.
Nevertheless, the evidence was right in front of them.
The police soon handcuffed every masked man before loading them into patrol vehicles.
As the last police car drove away, the atmosphere throughout the neighborhood gradually became peaceful again.
The residents surrounded Marcus and Betty with grateful smiles.
A middle-aged woman bowed deeply.
“Young man… thank you for saving us. It’s already dinner time. Please stay and eat with us. We’d like to properly thank you.”
Marcus originally wanted to refuse.
However, Betty quietly nudged his arm.
“We still need information from them for the company’s survey.”
